Hinckley Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Since our group layout this year at Brickworld, DaVinciPunk!, was more Steampunk based, this might be placed in the Sci-Fi Forum, but I'd rather leave the architecture in the Town Forum. Please excuse the sloppy photos, the building wouldn't fit in my shadow box. The monorail: In the display and at night: I'm sure there's better video of this MOC from our display, but here is the video I took at home while staging it. The monorail wasn't complete and my partner ended up gearing down the flying feature (and building a cool flying machine) but it gives you an idea of how much movement was in the creation. Thanks for checking it out. Comments and criticism welcome! Quote
Hey Joe Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Hey! Really cool, I particularly like the monorail cars. Thanks for sharing. Joe Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Very Jules Verne of you 'Hinckley'.......excellent structure and neat train......Brick On ! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 That is one impressive monorail station! I guess for the period a monorail would be a very spectacular sight, and thus a spectacular station is required. Lovely building and fantastic monorail to go with, love the layout too!! Happy building Quote
glendo Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 that station is almost a look alike to the naboo palace in SW sets! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 There are some amazing and simple architectural details on the building. I love this simplistic effect of combination of jumper plates and plates, it looks simple, but I never thought of displaying studs like that. I'm sure gonna try it in the future. The station building is very impressive - both in size and in style. Well done. Quote
Wedge09 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Great station  To me it remembers Naboo Royal Palace Quote
eurotrash Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 What an imposing structure. It looks perfect for an ornate Monorail Station and I think you've totally captured the Da Vinci Punk vibe. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 It's really really really great! My absolute favourite! The shape is brilliant, the detail and colour is brilliant and my most favourite detail is the 2 layer snotted tiles in the columns to get double lines in them (sorry but I will borrow that idea). The only thing I'll nitpick about is the large roof, I would have liked 1 big dome or just a flat roof with the one small green dome in the middle better I think. Quote
Hinckley Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I agree. As much work as I put into the "dome" it looks like an afterthought. If I was to redo it for next year for our new theme () I would put eight towers in the center with railings and windows instead of just the dark green bumper pieces. Quote
Hobbythom Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Beautifull building! Like others have said; it looks a bit like the architecture of Naboo. Which isn't a bad thing since that was the only decent thing in that movie! But back on topic: great technique used for those pillars. And I actually like the roof as is. Quote
Kristel Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 This is a stunning building! I love the dark tan features on the outside corners of the building, the trim over the entrance and the monorail carriages. Quote
Sir E Fullner Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I really like the steampunk feel of this desing. Very good indeed. Keep up the good work! Quote
Only Sinner Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Wow! This is really some genius engineering, here. Like DaVinci himself! I wish I could have gone to brickworld. I would like to have seen this in person. Quote
The Player Nº1 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 It's a beautiful MOC. Congratulations! Quote
