BrickG Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/21619 Large Hadron Collider stuff. I'm all for science. Completely pro-NASA and stuff. Think we need more eduction. But this model isn't much to look at :P. No official Lego comments yet. (couldn't find a thread about this buy maybe I'm blind.) Quote
JopieK Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 no indeed, I'm a tech teacher in high school and college, but I don't see any relevance to it... Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I didn't read that article, but I did see a different article lately regarding it and the builder stated it cost them $100 to build it at ~560 pieces...not exactly an easy feat to sell in a limited run for CUUSOO. I don't think most people would want to spend $100 on it, even if it did reach 10k votes. Quote
Meatman Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Unless you are an EXTREMELY big Scienece/NASA nut, I don't see this ever selling well. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Well I do quite like science projects and think that the educational value of the whole Cuusoo concept has not been realized yet. But this model to honest means nothing to me, If there was nothing telling me what it was I would not be able to work it out from the image. This is perhaps a sad fact that my own knowledge is lacking. But I have to say that although I did not personally recognise this particular bit of equipment, a set based on the whole CERN / Large Hadron Collider would be good, I just think it needs to be something more instantly recognisable? I am not sure what, I do understand that this model from what I have read is a lot smaller than the original and I guess that is in part to make it more acceptable price wise, but it seems to have lost something in translation? Still, maybe LEGO can come up with a set based on the theme in general that will be more recognisable and as such may sell enough to make it worthwhile as a project? So for the effort of bringing this to the attention of LEGO designers if nothing else I think we should appreciate it and thank the creators for the chance to get another cool science related set.
