Sariel Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 So, I have eventually dared to try my hand at aircraft: Plenty of reading and some nice photos can be found here: http://sariel.pl/201...r-71-blackbird/ Quote
grum64 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 My favourite aircraft of all time. In Lego. Truly Amazing! Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) A truly amazing creation indeed, seriously, that is great, I saw the thumbnail and thought 'No way...' And an extra for the TRON music Edited June 17, 2013 by z3_2drive Quote
rm8 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) How could you generate so many different ideas? I can do only cars:))) Very cool, especially controls, like simulator. Edited June 17, 2013 by rm8 Quote
Andy D Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 My mind is officially and completely blown. You never cease to amaze me with your creations. Thanks for sharing this with us. Andy D Quote
Darth Dino Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Hi most impressive MOC of a legendary aircraft. Thank you for not only showing this great model but also providing (once again) most impressive background information about the real thing. Engeneers started to develop this aircraft in the late '50 - FIFTIES! When other planes in the world have been flown with propellers and sub sonic speed, this one is for many values still a record holder. I think secret development have never been so far ahead since Oxcart and later SR-71. Dino Quote
colinrichardson Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Wow, killed it. Though, would it be too much to ask for an adjustable intake spike: http://www.wvi.com/~sr71webmaster/j-58~1.htm? j/k ...but not completely joking. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 SuperB work Sariel. Ilke your first plane with love and not only that , your video and the control centre and the hole theme, Wow Great work. Quote
Blakbird Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Completely spectacular model of my namesake airplane. I like that it is not only a model but a simulator like the 8485 heli or the plane from the 8891 Idea Book (which someone build and reviewed here). The control input is an inspired bit of design. Wow, killed it. Though, would it be too much to ask for an adjustable intake spike: http://www.wvi.com/~...ster/j-58~1.htm? j/k If you go to his website, you'll see that he actually considered that feature but there was not enough space. Gene Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm stunned by your creation Sariel! Like the control, the details on the aircraft and the mood settings like the top-gun movie! Quote
Kumbbl Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 absolutely incredible        Quote
seba123 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Fantastic!! I like how you used your flatscreen as background - feels like flying! Quote
kermit Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Im not into technic but this is truley amazing. Great job you clearly are a master. Quote
kieran Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Its amazing, both the aircraft its self and the mount with 3 axis, just incredible that it's all Lego. Quote
D3K Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Pretty awesome! The front is what deviates the most from the real thing, but I suppose there is no way around that using Lego bricks Overall, a great looking model, there is absolutely no mistaking what it is supposed to be! Also one of my favourite planes ever, a marvel of cold war engineering! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 That is INSANE. Before watching the video I thought the Blackbird was not really worthy of your talents - no disrespect to the amazing aircraft, I just didn't see how it could be anywhere near as interesting as your cars. I should have known better. Wonderful job! The only thing that could have improved this would be to find a couple of X-Men in the cockpit. Quote
zux Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I have read about this airplane sometime ago and I'm still impressed how this type of machinery with such amazing technical stats was created in that early years. And now here it is, re-created as very good LEGO copy! Quote

dhc6twinotter Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 That is a really good looking aircraft! Well done! I really like the control center type setup as well. Quote
bord4kop Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) Another truly great creation! Man don 't you ever stop to create such a great variety of really amazing and beautiful things? Edited June 18, 2013 by bord4kop Quote
Sariel Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 I take breaks ;) Also, one day I will eventually run out of ideas, but this doesn't seem close yet. With the Blackbird finished, I now have plans for 3, maybe 4 more aircraft models. Quote
jadedomg Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 This is really good. The simulator is just downright amazing if I had that out at home everyone would be playing with it. Quote
