Paul B Technic Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/review-9395-b-model.html Lego Technic set 9395 B model Picture Review β January 2013 When I first saw this set online in 2012 I really started to look forward to it being released, it looked to be a good value set which had some good features, the look of it also really jumped out at me. Just before Christmas I purchased this set and built the A model, I really enjoyed this and loved the end result. Not long after this I grabbed a second copy and used this to do some MOCβing. Today I decided to build the B model of this set. Below are some photos of the building process, finished model and also some side by side photos with the A model. Overall it took me just under 2.5 hours to build this; the pieces were already sorted so this made the building process much easier. In the end I am quite impressed with this set, the A and B models are both equally as good and both have good working functions. Based purely on looks the A model has the edge where as I think the functions of the B model are slightly better. My plan now is to modify the B model and change the rear function to a crane arm. This is one of the few sets where I think each model is worth the price, this is why I ended up buying two copies so I could keep both the A and B models built. Quote
Balrog Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I have purchased 9395 a few weeks ago for discount on Amazon. That made a price per piece ratio of nearly 5 cent per piece, which is an awesome value. I enjoyed building both models as well. Though, you are right, the A-model definately has the better looks. In the B-model the cabin of the truck is too narrow. It should be higher. When I first saw the B-model on pictures I thought it would be pretty stupid to always have the lift on the side of the truck. What should that be good for. I didn't know that you can turn it to the back, so this function makes sense after all. But I didn't realize that until I saw a video on YouTube before I built it. Buildtime was rather the same for me. I disassembled the A-model on the evening before, roughly sorting the pieces while disassembling and did a little more granular sorting before building. In the end, I like the whole set. The A-model is pretty good if you ask me. Even the lever linkage works well, at least it did for me. In some review they mentioned it would be a bit sloppy. The B-model works good as well and was a very enjoyable build. I would even go so far to say, that the build itself was more interesting than for the A-model. But in the end it lacks the looks a bit. Overall, this is a must have. The regular price is already pretty cheap for the amount of parts. The functions are pretty good. It offers enough possibility for modding and it looks good on the shelf. Quote
750ACE Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I picked up two off ebay both below 5 cents per part as well. The A model is one of my favorite models. Very solid chassis, great part count and variety too. Quote
