piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 hi mates! does someone of you know how much the 8475 weighs? im building a car with 2 rc motors and i'd like to know the maximum weight extablished from lego for those motors :D thanx! Quote
tibivi Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 If you want to know that, I think that the 8366 supersonic rc is hevier than th buggy, Or have I misunderstand your question? Greets Tibivi Quote
RohanBeckett Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Just put mine on the scales - 789 grams, with 6 x Alkaline AA Batteries I'm sure the RC Unit + Motors could take a lot more weight Go have a look at some Sariel's creations... I'm sure he's built quite a few vehicles heavier than that, using the RC unit RB Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 yeah! i'd like to know wich one is the maximum weight (according to lego) that rc motors can tolerate :P i'm trying to build something fast but nice too see as well just for some hype: i've built a new suspension type with a short travel wich i think you will like very much Just put mine on the scales - 789 grams, with 6 x Alkaline AA Batteries I'm sure the RC Unit + Motors could take a lot more weight Go have a look at some Sariel's creations... I'm sure he's built quite a few vehicles heavier than that, using the RC unit RB oh cool thanks! so i should stay under 800g :) Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Is it some sort of racecar/track car? One thing I eventually want to build this summer is either a 'stanced car' (slight negative camber) with RWD, maybe a honda s2000, or the Caterham SP300R: Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 nono :P something cooler! a wrc rally car :P i've tested the chassis some minutes ago and it performs drifts and burnouts.... and im almost embarasse coz i'm having problems driving it XD Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 nono :P something cooler! a wrc rally car :P i've tested the chassis some minutes ago and it performs drifts and burnouts.... and im almost embarasse coz i'm having problems driving it XD How big is it? Let's have some WIP photos Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 i was thinking about not revealing anything but how can i say "no"? the chassis is not going to be orange anyway lol and obviusly it's gonna have 4 wheels lol....this is just a picture of the front axle i've tried to make the macpherson suspension and i can say that i did it :P the springs i used are custom but they have the same dimensions of the lego ones...i just didnt want to dismount them :P but i'll explain everything in the car's topic once released Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 so it's like a Macpherson strut? interesting! and it will be RWD? Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) yeah :)...it's gonna have also a differential lock activable by hand so it gets easier drifting it's powered by two rc motors the nice thing about the macpherson structure is that the car turns really nicely Edited June 9, 2013 by piterx Quote
skppo Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 How did you get the angle for the spring? Post a pic without wheels, please! I'm very interested to see how you solved that. Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 here it is :P but to get the right angle there are also other important thing such as the links that connect it to the steering rack...ill post everything once i post the car Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) Time to reverse engineer! I'll post quick pics of my simple body for the mini rally car so I can get at that motor EDIT: Is this right? Edited June 9, 2013 by z3_2drive Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) yes sir :) probably it's better if you use the 5.5 stud axle to connect the weel so the axle can fill the rim and you can keep the disc :) it's something that i made to the other wheel Edited June 9, 2013 by piterx Quote
tibivi Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Nice idea You have some very good ideas in your head Again a project to follow Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Wow I'm making a mini rally car ATM, I like like your compact suspension design, too bad I only have about 5 of the pieces to make it. :/ Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 One thing I don't like is that the hub can still wiggle so that the tire touches the spring, but this doesnt happen on its own at least. I like it! I built the whole axle and will upload a pic to verify that I did the steering rack right Quote
750ACE Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Aren't all of the wrc competitors all wheel drive? Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 no it doesnt...at least in the way i mounted it :P or at least till you dont put it on the ground...then it works fine :P Aren't all of the wrc competitors all wheel drive? yeah but it's gonna have a wrc look but it's a famous car :P and it's famous for its tricks and drifts eheh try to guess what car it is Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Time to reverse engineer! I'll post quick pics of my simple body for the mini rally car so I can get at that motor EDIT: Is this right? oh i see what you've done wrong! the ball joint that connects to the wishbone has to be in the other direction! the smooth part has to face the disc :) Quote
legomuppet9 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Interesting interesting... I'll let a few others guess first though Quote
piterx Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 ahahah muppet you won't win anything coz you already know it and also doc_brown Quote
legomuppet9 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 ahahah muppet you won't win anything coz you already know it and also doc_brown Which is why I'm not going to guess Quote
750ACE Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 BMW M5? I ask because there is a 51.3 mile world record drift with one. Quote
z3_2drive Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 It wiggles either way, but only if you do it with your hand (giggity) Anyway, is it a ford escort? Quote
