casewindu Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 in my History lesson we have been asked to make trenches from WW1. I want to make mine out of lego and i know what i have to make. however i have become really bogged down because i dont know how i would make British/ German soliders especially the helmets! if anybody can suggest how to make them (especially the helmets ) please write below! if i can i will reward everyone with pics of it. thanks , michael Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Well, you can buy military helmets from Armothe's Brickforge. Not sure if they are WWI helmets. But you can fool your teacher! :-P Decals for soldiers can be found all over the web... If it was about WWII there are loads of custom weapons and figs... Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 How many do you need? And do you mind spending a little money on it? If you can, purchase accessories from here. RedBean makes a very high-quality WWII helmet which would serve you well I think Edit: Damnit, I'll get you next time, Tiber :-P Quote

Minifig Lecturer Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 thanks but do these do them to england? Well it says United Kingdom on the form you fill out and last time I looked England was still a part of it... So it looks like your in luck *y* Quote
Khorne Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 The Stahlhelm from Armothe's Brickforge is rather expensive since you get the crappy StG 44 with it :-/ . You could use Rock Raider or Imperial Officer torsos for the Germans. For the Brits you can use the Adventurers Baron Von Barron torso and a 1x1 radar dish as helmet. Quote

Thrash Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Brickforge sells the helmet seperately from the Sturmgewehr now for $1.50. Quote
SkaForHire Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 eh... depending on what you have lying around you could just make pith helmets for the Germans via the adventure pith helmet, if you want the spike (which the Germans removed during the war) you could always cut one of those mini-spears down a notch and put them in the pith helmets hole. for the Brits i am not sure... I can't even remember what they were wearing at the beginning of the war... perhaps there is some sort of SW helmet you could paint to look like them? I just don't like spending 1.50 on a helmet myself lol. Quote
casewindu Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 does this help at all? they are good but i think thats is WW2 Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 they are good but i think thats is WW2 Yes, According to their weapons it is WWII, but it does look nice anyway... Quote

These hats are easily represented by using brown kepis. @Thrash: I didn't know they sold them seperatly. Thanks for the info, man! Quote
Lord David Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Well here's a few tips of mine, German helmets can be made using the military helmets purchased from Armothe's Brickforge. For the WW1 authenticity, you could perhaps make some moulded "spearhead" tops for the German Helmets? Like this? As for British Helmets, I suppose using standard lego brown kepis hats could work. Now if you want French helmets, I suppose a mixture of Adventurers' Piths (painted dark blue) and using those Imperial Guard Shako hats (could it be possible to cut it in half, and loweing the height whilst still making it wearable? I'm not sure as I don't currently have this piece) Officer helmets can easily done by using standard police officer helmets. Australian/New Zealand soldier helmets are easily done by using those Adventurers' slouch hat. Dragoon cavalry helmets are easily done using those castle dragon head helmets Well hopefully this is helpful for you. Quote
Norrington Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Imperial Guard Shako hats (could it be possible to cut it in half, and loweing the height whilst still making it wearable? I'm not sure as I don't currently have this piece) Cut a shako 8- Quote
ChrisF2006 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Actually for early WW1 French you could use Civil War style kepis either kept the same or painted red and you could even use the same minifigs as Lego provided in the Western sets, some mfs should also have red pants for realism. For late WW1 French when they wore the Adrian helmet and either the horizon blue or the khaki uniform would probably require custom skins. Quote
