I bought Lego Master Builder Academy kits for my daughter for Christmas. The Lego Store had Kit 1 as one box, Kits 2-3 as another, and Kits 4-6 as a third. My daughter and I have really enjoyed doing these together. The instruction books are incredibly well done and informative, and she loves doing all the added activities on the web site associated with each kit. We are at the point that she is nearly done with Kit 6 and I am thinking about getting her the rest. The problem is that I can't find them. Brickset indicates that they exist and they came out in 2012. However, the Lego Store retail does not have them and Shop @ Home does not have them either. You can find them on Bricklink but only in tiny quantities at ridiculous prices. Why are they so rare? How are you supposed to buy kits 7-9? Any help appreciated.

Kits 7-9 came out in May last year, but were abruptly taken off the S@H site a few months ago. Level 4 (Kits 10-12) will be released in July, and I believe someone said that 7-9 will be rereleased along with it. So if your daughter's willing to wait a little while longer, the kits should be available at a reasonable price again.

The LEGO MBA program was originally a subscription based program. Kit 1 was sold at stores as an introduction. A level 1 subscription would have kit 2 arrive first with kit 3 arriving a month later. Unlike kit 1, subsequent kits did not come in a box. The parts were packaged in polybags and mailed with their corresponding books. TLG looked at customer feedback and found that people really wanted boxed sets and therefore decided to abandon the subscription aspect. As a result, the rest of level 1 (kits 2-3) and level 2 (kits 4-6) are now sold in a box.

One rumor is that Level 3 was probably removed from S@H so that it could be redesigned to improve its appeal.

You can find promotional pictures of level 4 here.

I hope this is true. I really liked Level 1 & 2 even though they are related to themes and subjects I don't normally build. Level 3 came along, and is much more suited to my tastes, but I found it totally lackluster and unappealing.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I also asked at my local Lego brand retail store and they indicated that both the Level 3 and Level 4 boxed sets will be available July 1.

A month or two ago the Local Lego store had a promotion on Master Builder sets, I was shown but did not take a copy of a flyer that shows Level 3 and Level 4 boxed sets will be release on July 1st.
