Legofin2012 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) Born a simple farmer, he always dreamed of adventure. when he grew up his parents died and left him a mysterious chest, when he opened it, not only did he find gold, but also a note that read: Son, by the time you read this I will be gone, this gold is for you and so is the helm and this sword, they once belonged to me, when I lead my troops into battle.... The helm was silver and gold, and the sword of the finest steel in the land. With that he set off, with the gold he brought some armor, and a small castle, on the way he met 7 men, who fought with his father... And here is the castle he brought: Untitled by Legofin2012, on Flickr Untitled by Legofin2012, on Flickr Untitled by Legofin2012, on Flickr Untitled by Legofin2012, on Flickr Finlay: So what do you think of the castle? Kyle: Very nice, the Orcs will have trouble getting in here... Finlay: Well I hope we won't have to deal with them to soon..., at least until we have a few more men... Kyle: Agreed, with 7 men, well'd lose most of them... and what about them docks? Finlay: Turns out there's a trapdoor in my leading down a tunnel out off the cliff to the docks, impossible to see from the cliff! Kyle: Interesting, could be useful... Finlay: Indeed... -Finlay of Teridyan Edited May 26, 2013 by Legofin2012 Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 I like the section over the waterfall and the inside looks good as well The transition from grass to cliffs could be done better as right now it is just a straight line. Cool portcullis, is there anything in the cave? Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Thanks, and yes it is a bit straight isn't it...,the cave leads up a tunnel in to the house, added a dialogue that might help. Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Thanks, could do with a bit more layering, don't you think? ... Quote
Str0ngbad Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 More layering would be good but I think the castle wall could use some added depth a little more than the cliff. Also, going back to Soccerkid's suggestion, breaking up the line between the cliff and the grass would help it look more organic; even just some foliage over the edge might do the trick. Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Yes, I think I'll put some flat green pieces on the cliff to break it up a bit. Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Sorry for the double post, but thought I'd post a picture of the better layering (I hope): agent declartion page 2 004 by Legofin2012, on Flickr Thanks to soccerkid6 and StrOngbad for the suggestions! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 That is better, I like the addition of the green plates overhanging the cliff Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Yes, thanks for suggesting it, hadn't noticed before you commented. Quote
Gideon Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Sorry for the double post, but thought I'd post a picture of the better layering (I hope): [...] Thanks to soccerkid6 and StrOngbad for the suggestions! I really like the change, when the colors don't change exactly with the geometry the transition between ground and cliff looks much better! Quote
Legofin2012 Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Thanks, GoH is already improving my building skills . Quote
Legofin2012 Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Thank you, personally think it's a lot better! Quote
Garmadon Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Yes, I agree with the others, it is a great improvement. Maybe a bit more of a transition where the waterfall hits the bottom would be good too (if possible). BTW, did you mean to name the topic Finlay Castle (it says catle). I bet a certain friendly regulator could fix that, though . Quote
Legofin2012 Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Thanks, unfortunately I can't change it any more, since it has been destroyed to make my watchtower . And yes, was mean't to spell castle and not catle Quote
