Optimax X Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 That's crazy, i understand your good will, but 40 hours?! Man that's wrong, and unhealthy. People do have to eat, and most people cause more trouble than good when they do a famine for that long. I knew somebody at my school who had to go to hospital after something on that length, he was too ill after not eating anything for ages. Good luck anyway Quote
Brainbox Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 That's crazy, i understand your good will, but 40 hours?! Man that's wrong, and unhealthy. People do have to eat, and most people cause more trouble than good when they do a famine for that long. Actually, I've heard it said that people should be able to survive 3 weeks without food. On average its 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. Obviously, age, health, physical condition and surroundings all influence the time. Still, I agree its probably not recommended. But like you said its for a good cause, so good luck :-) Quote
Optimax X Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Well yeah, i woundn't advise kids who are not fit, healthy and not very strong to do it. One question, how do you actuly PROVE you have done it? You can say you have, but people may not belive you, so how are you going to prove it? Otherwise people are gonna start asking questions and wanting there money back. |-/ Quote
Legoman Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 well thanks for your conserns guys but i will be fine ;-) .this is my fifth doing the famine 8-| and secound year at doing it for 40 hours.we are still allowed to have 1 meal of plain rice a day if we want to.as for proof.i really can't proove it unless i had a camera on me for 40 hours (and i won't :-| ) .but if you do sponsor me i do't get the money anyway it goes streight to world vision.to help others around the world in poverty :-X and give the basics of life.no-one HAS to sponsor me.but it would help heaps if you did.even just a dollor or two.anything will help.thanks anyway legoman Quote
ChrisF2006 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 How is you starving yourself for 40 hours going to help a starving kid in Africa when the food cant get to him because there are bandits/rival warlords/rival tribes/etc stealing the food or because some idiot politician kicked out all the White farm owners and thus now nobody has the knowledge to operate farms? If it wasent for all the senseless violence over some stupid 1,000 year old tribal feud and the idiotic despot politicians like Mugabe then Africa would be just as stable as prosperous as the West. Minifig Lecturer Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Unfortunately people will give money if you "starve" yourself for 40 hours. So that is why it will help. Not all food is blocked by warlords and corrupt politicians, maybe 90% of it is but if your brother survived because he was lucky to eat some of the 10% that got through, then wouldn't you agree it was worth it... 40s hours without food is not unhealthy for a healthy person. You will just be hungry but the hunger will go and for 16 of those 40 hours you will be sleeping (hopefully). Optimax, why would a person really care if the guy doing the fast breaks it by eating something after 20 or whatever number of hours. The point is they got money for a charity. As for whether the charity is any good in the long term that's another issue but in the short term it usually is something positive. Quote
