casewindu Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Yes but it costs alot more of soming called money to do up a car with unsessasry music sytems, spoilers ans whatnot tack than to buy just another better car. yes but ever thought people might just like those things? if you dont like it fine but you cant just call others idiots just because they have a different opinion to you thats all i'm saying. Quote
5150 Lego Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 First one so chavified it's unreal- poor cars. Why can't idiots leave perfectly good cars alone- they are like an anoying mossie that won't go away. Tuning companies are so stupid when they start on supercars, i mean done good like brabus is amazing, but these idiots should leave the cars alone completley or leave it to the experts. Now your being a complete hypocrite. You just went from saying all modified cars were horrible, to "if profesional tunners do it its ok". Oh, and just an FYI, Hamann is a profesional tunner, right up there with brabus. The second one is not even modifed, it's the 360 stradali model, can tell by the italian flag stip that all 360 stradalis have. It is a modified car. It is modified from the factory with the weekend racer in mind. Well duh! You must think i'm really stupid- You said it, not me.when i mean modifed i mean music systems and chavvy wheels. I don't mean a proffesional race car that has upgrades that are a nessasary in racing. So whats the differnce is a private party makes modifcation to improve performanace so they can compete on weekend races? You obviously don't know much about race cars as you think. A good set of aftermarket rims and tires can dramaticly improve a cars performance if it is wider, and with less side wall flex than stock. Yes but it costs alot more of soming called money to do up a car with unsessasry music sytems, spoilers ans whatnot tack than to buy just another better car. Not really. Dude, you need to realize that not everyone has $200,000 to drop a ferrari, or any of the other exotics you previouly meantioned. And no, it doesn't cost someone that much to add modifcations with rims tires and stereo's. You say you don't want to be called a kid, then i sugjest you stop acting like one and be a little more open minded. Look atit this way.. What if you posted a pic of a LEGO set you bought, but made some modifcations and everyone slammed you cause you decided "ruin a perfectly good set" as you put it. I realize that LEGO and Ferrari (or any real car for that matter) aren't exatlyin the same leauge, but to many there both hobbies. Quote
Optimax X Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 Man, you don't get it do you? Yes, the second one is a real ferrari, not modfied in anyway, it's made by ferrari and has not been touched by anyone. I should know, i see enough of them to know if it has been modified or not. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Yes but it costs alot more of soming called money to do up a car with unsessasry music sytems, spoilers ans whatnot tack than to buy just another better car. It costs a lot of money to buy Lego. Or to buy books, DVDs, music downloads, etc. What's the difference between that and modding a car? Everyone needs an outlet or hobby to spend money on. So yeah, I agree with 5150 Lego. But, like I said, some mods are over-the-top. In this case I would agree with Optimax. Can you tell I'm trying to be the voice of reason and diplomacy here? ;-) On a side note, I was looking at some VW Beetles (original) today, on the way to my grandmas. Someone had done them up and painted them in different styles- bumblebee stripes, dark pink and Herbie were on show. Interesting... Quote

Wow, did i not meation in my post that it was upgraded FROM THE FACTROY???!!! I was simply pointing out that even the factory themselfs found a way to improve on what you call "the perfect there can be nothing in the world done to improve on them car. So yeah, I agree with 5150 Lego. But, like I said, some mods are over-the-top. In this case I would agree with Optimax. I agree with brainbox on this one. There are plenty of times were an owner can take it a bit over the top. I do agree that the WRONG set rims can ruin a car,(not every aftermarket rim out there looks good) but if the right set is choosen that complements that overall flow of the vehicle, then it can be a drastic improvment. Can you tell I'm trying to be the voice of reason and diplomacy here? blink.gif LOL, well someone does! X-D *y* On a side note, I was looking at some VW Beetles (original) today, on the way to my grandmas. Someone had done them up and painted them in different styles- bumblebee stripes, dark pink and Herbie were on show. Interesting... Cool to see differnt styles of the Beetle huh? I just couldn't imagine a world were everyone drove the same car/truck. How bland would that be? :-( Quote
5150 Lego Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Optimax X, your obviouly stuck that you hate modified cars. No matter how much myself, or anyone else tries and convince you other wise. Though i don't agree with you, i'll respect your opinion if you respect mine and everyone elses. We can go on and on about this, but we'll still be butting heads at the end. Truce ok? *sweet* So, i was curious if there are any fans of trucks here . This could be anytihng from big rigs (i think those from europe call them lorries?) to compacts to SUV's, to american full size. Here's my Current ride.. Its a Toyota FJ Cruiser. It has a 4.0 V6-235HP, 280 Ftpd's of torque. It is one of the most cable off road vechicles to come out of a factory unmodified. It uses toyota Atrac 4- wheel drive system with a locking rear differentail. I love it! It has olot of retro styling from the older FJ40's One in action.. Trucks are very big here in the U.S. and there the top sellers over here. This is one of my favorites.. Its a Dodge Ram Power Wagon. Its the most capable off road full size pickup truck any manufactuer has ever offered. It has many things offered from the factory that alot of people add on later to make them better off road. Like a 12,000 pound winch, front and rear locking differentials, electronic front swaybar disconect, rack sliders, and longer travel suspention. Quote

KMOI Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 He's not wiping it in our faces, Case. This is a car topic, afterall! Man, I never knew a debate over cars could get so heated! Modified or not, it's all a matter of preference. Whatever floats your cars, huh? X-D Anyhoo, I don't exactly have a favorite car, but almost any sports car appeals to me. Ferraris, Aston Martins, anything sleek like those instantly wins me over. My favorite one would have to be the SMART car, simply because it's so versatile and asthetically pleasing. The SMART Roadster Brabus is also amazing, but others will disagree. Another favorite of mine is the Mustang GT (Pardon my spelling, if I got it wrong) not because it's a muscle car, but because of this: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/5136/may20056yp1.jpg What can I say? I'm a sucker for cars which transform into giant robots, especially Wheeljack! :-D EDIT: Here's modified for ya! Quote
Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 ok ok ok you have seen a lot of ferraris stop wiping it in our faces! What- oh it's same old jelousy is it? How sad. What do people think about the new V.W scirroco, the call it a baby 4x4 and when it's realised, i've heard it's gonna look exatly like it does now- huzzah! This year is a great year for new cars, like a lexus super car? Gosh, i thought i'd seen it all, but it will be interesting to see how that turns out. Also the audi R8. My favorite super car to be realised this year up to now. First audi supercar so that is going to be interesting. Quote

Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Yeah- sorry, i'm just fed-up of comments like that, even when i am talking about it in a pleasent way people say stuff like "Ferraris are rubbish" Yeah(!) that's why they are one of the most sucsessful road car builders and racing teams in the world. Just screams jealously at me though when people randomly come out wih stuff like that. No offence :-) Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Well, I myself don't really like Ferraris. But I don't think they're rubbish. I don't like the look and prefer classic cars... The sound of a running V8 engine of a classic car is like music to me! *wub* NO offence meant to ferrari fans! Have a nice day, Mr Tiber Quote
Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 What about classic ferraris? I love the sound of the 355 espacially as it is accelerating and going up the gears. Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 What about classic ferraris? I love the sound of the 355 espacially as it is accelerating and going up the gears. Mhhh, I didn't know those existed :-$ . I googled around and found some pics of these classic ferraris. Also very nice cars. Although I prefer classic AMERICAN(didn't mention that in my other post) cars.... Mr Tiber Quote
Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Oh yes, i remember those, they were the types that could turn courners, did not fall to bits when going around corners and had quite abit of power in them compared to the modern day american cars X-D what do people think? Quote
Brainbox Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I agree with brainbox on this one. There are plenty of times were an owner can take it a bit over the top. I do agree that the WRONG set rims can ruin a car,(not every aftermarket rim out there looks good) but if the right set is choosen that complements that overall flow of the vehicle, then it can be a drastic improvment. Never mind that. I saw a car propped up in a front garden on the way to Southport with two wheels and no wheel arches (won't get very far). Presumably the owner had decided to change the wheels. only to find that the arches were too small. :-| :-D What can I say? I'm a sucker for cars which transform into giant robots, especially Wheeljack! :-D Ravage *wub* Quote
Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Nah- i'm more a car model collecter, i mean look at this years range Link to model collectors heaven! and that's just from mini champs- those 1:43 F1 cars are mine! *vader* Quote
Brainbox Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I think one of these comes to our school! :-D Nah, its not that old, but there is a very old bus on the school service route. As for racing cars, this has to be a classic. There's a similar one as well, and I can't for the life of me find it. It's similar to this, but with a windscreen all the way across. Quote
Optimax X Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Yes, that is a very nice lotus. They were a great racing team when they were around, i espacially like the john player lotus F1 car in it's trademark colour. The other car you are probably refering to that is very much like that car is the jaguar d-type. This is the JP lotus- unfortanatly back in the dark days or F1 when there were many deaths :'-( (R.I.P Senna) but look at those massive rear wheels! Quote

Not saying that exotics don't sound good, but the is somthing ah inspiring about an american V8!! Quote
Optimax X Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 My! What a shock i have just had- you don't need to be any F1 fan to understand this, but what the heck is this? The 07 honda F1 livery! Quote

5150 Lego Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. I recently had the privilege to drive one of these..... Hard! The sheer acceleration is incredible. Especially at freeway speeds!! X-D Quote
Optimax X Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 Honda are keeping rubens and jens, as they have only had them for one year! The team is basically the same, but the livery is completly diffrent to last years. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 The other car you are probably refering to that is very much like that car is the jaguar d-type. Yeah, that's the one. *wub* Quote
