I laid my hands on a cheap second 10218 Pet Shop set. I decided to build the red/brown part in reverse, and fuse the blue parts.. I think it doesn't look too bad...

The brown house definitely looks better with its mirror image - as a part of a row of semi-detached houses. The shop is interesting too, did you maybe think about placing 'pets' in the center of the building?

Yes, i thought about that, but to be honest i'm more a kind of guy that only looks to the outside of a building... The brown houses look even better when the front doors are 'attached' to eachtother...You can see it on this picture:8725922955_6e4b157685.jpg

I think having a second townhouse is most welcome to the line-up. I like both versions -- doors next to each other or on opposite sides.

As far as Pets goes, I would also think the signage should be more central. I'd also prefer to see the middle black roofing slopes to be singular in nature as the rest of the build. But that's just me. Unless a second PS was given to me, I won't be seeing my plans to fruition.

But yours is a nice touch. I like the idea. Good job!

The double town house looks nice, especially with the doors next to each other. The pet shop could use some more modding imo, as has been pointed out, centering the 'PETS' and evening out the roof slopes would certainly improve it.

This reminds me that I need to pick up the Pet Shop asap. I had planned to do it this month, but my old car died, so I had to get a new one, and unsurprisingly those are quite a bit more expensive than a modular building

The Pet Shop looks a little like the top half is two separate buildings still. You could avoid having the double column of groove bricks in the centre by having all the front windows 4 studs wide. You'd need to reposition the windows in the roof as well. I think that the pet shop sign needs to be centred, or maybe have the doors under the sign?

They look nice and they're different, but just think of all those parts that you COULD use to build something excellent and/or truly unique.

Well now wait a minute, wait a minute; it could depend upon which modular and which type of car!

I tried to make Pet Shop on the sign, but it was to hard and i had a lack of parts for that.. I know it can be done, but i'm also lacking time due to my two young sons, for getting it done...so i was a bit lazy and thought it would do for me how i did it.... Thanks anyway, also the other for the hints... Having all windows 4 studs wide is also a matter of pars-lack...I have over 75.000 parts, but all parts are used for Original sets and slight MOD's....Greetz, LegoSjaak

Timmy, that wil take some time.. at this moment, half of my layout is on wooden plates, put ont top of eachother.. I had to make space for an company that will come these weeks, to install airconditioning on all 3 bedrooms. They need my Lego-attick to install the whole stuff.... I'm even considering a new layout, after the guys from the A/C have left... but that will take months.....I will probably even start with that after summertime... greetz, LegoSjaak

Excellent modifications there 'LS', any interior shots ?

I too feel the 'Pets' sign should be more centred......anyway great work and Brick On ! :classic:

Thanx LT, the interior is not exciting enough to take pictures of...it did not change very much from the Original... so, i will leave those behind. Yesterday i ordered 10 modular lampposts and added them to my modular street... They look fine to...just simple additions, but really nice! The Pets sign should be centered.....but...euhm....maybe i'll do that later, when i have parts for it, or when i see someone else doing it, and showing how he dit it here on EB... :look: Anyway,,it was fun to build both buildings in reverse... i only started once with a floor, forgetting i was buildingin reverse... haha... Have fun with Lego!!

Very nice work! The expansion gives it a much better size/scale

It indeed does... it looks better now that it is wider...!!!
