Added Parts Different Colour from old ones?

Hi there,

I'm currently trying to create a set of instructions for a Lego project. I would like to format them so that the previously placed pieces are differentiated from the pieces that are currently placed (preferably by making them much lighter, while the current pieces maintain their original colour). Is there an option within LPub or MLCad to do so? Or is there a better piece of software suited to my needs?

I think you can use buffer exchange to change the color of the required parts,but I have no idea on how to do it.

I would ask over in the Ldraw forum.
