Elen Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) I suppose many of you remember the "Rescue Rangers" cartoon. Good characters were flying on the dirigible. So, Let's Watch: Dirigible has quite simple construction: Plastic bottle, balloon & some small straps. It maneuvers with wings & tail. Now, Lets look! Thank you for watching! Scubacarrot Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I really like the Moc, I like how many details you managed to get into it. the thing I like most is how you've managed to make it look like the balloon is inflated. Very cool! Quote
tkf Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Elen i voted for your work, and glad you got 3rd place on Zeppelin Battle mini-contest. In fact i had think that your work would have first place, it is great replica of Rescue Ranger plane, even so hard to make balloon looks very similar. I still can't believe that it holds normally and model not fall into parts by the balloon weight (real helium balloon inside the LEGO one? :) ) The only disappointment is that LEGO hasn't made Rescue rangers figures, but may be new Chima or old Fabuland would look good inside this plane, and would help everybody :) Quote

I am glad to be in winners. The balloon is heavy, but the MOC stands quite steady. I don't have old Fabuland ones. :(The MOC is still in my shelf, I can make some new photos if you want ;) Edited May 7, 2013 by Elen Quote
JopieK Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Very nice!!! Great idea ;) now some appropriate figs! Quote
Dreamweb Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) It looks very nice! I built the Ranger Plane myself 3 years ago - you can check it out here if you're interested. However yours is obviously bigger and more detailed. My only complaint is that the wings seem too short. Other than that it's a great MOC and a good represantation of the cartoon plane. I'm a big Rescue Rangers fan and I'm also aware that they have quite a fanbase in Russia. Edited May 7, 2013 by Dreamweb Quote
Amset-Rah Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Stellar job! Makes me a bit nostalgic (Chip and Dale was one of my favorite cartoons growing up), and I believe you did the show justice with this piece. Great work! Quote
tedbeard Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Lovely build! I can hear the theme song in my head now. Quote

So, I have tried to do it myself )The wings are "just the size". If they will be bigger, they will look like worse. I have tried. All my childhood I have seen this cartoon every Sunday. Stellar job! Hinckley Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I really love this. The shape of the bottle is fantastic and the appendages are very clever. The suction cups legs are awesome. It could use some of these inside: though I'm aware that's a squirrel. Did you see that LEGO made these? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3437pb047&in=S Quote
Bobskink Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Cool zeppelin/ blimp, very recognisable. Hinckley has some good idea's there, good luck with it. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 How about some custom Fabuland Figures? They would likely be the right scale. Quote
Yooha Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Ha-ha, that's cute! As a child I never knew what R/R meant (since the hungarian title is different), but after more than 20 years I finally do! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I have to say that I have never heard of the Rescue Rangers myself although I am sure i could Google them. I did think that it looked a bit top heavy (Not from a model perspective, just from standing up.) and was a bit concerned it may fall over. However you say it is quite steady so I will be happy as it would be a great shame if it did fall off your shelf. Are you working on the figures to go into it? Especially as you plan to keep it made for a while. Quote
LibraryBoy Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 This looks amazing! I think it's especially clever the way you have the straps pulling down on the balloon in the middle, slightly over-inflating the ends. Nice attention to detail there! Quote

Especially as you plan to keep it made for a while. There is so much more "cute old stuff" ) There is a big difficulty to make animals in right scale. I cannot make them look good right now. I have made a balloon whole day from the very morning till late night. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 You can pick up Fabuland pretty cheaply online. For a full on custom the quality isn't even that important too. I had next to none but one very cheap eBay lot later and I have plenty to work with. Quote
Bamos Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Elen I love it. But now i am going to be humming the theme song all day. Bill Quote
