Paul B Technic Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Does anybody know of or use any digital design tools on an Android tablet? Quote
legolijntje Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Well, I don't know if it's easy, but maybe you can use the online cad mecabricks.com. I thought I read somewhere that the author plans to include touch support. But the main problem is; does the browser support WebGL? I know it's possible in the newest version of Chrome (for Android), but it's experimental, you can read here how to turn it on. Anyway, for more questions regarding mecabricks, you can use this topic Quote
Scrubs Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Hello, I just finished a new player to display models made in mecabricks and it supports touchscreens. I tried today on a Galaxy Tab 2 and it worked fine! Use the links: http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/[iD] where [iD] is the Mecabricks Id of the model. I used 1 finger to rotate, 2 fingers to zoom and 3 to pan. I know that you can't build yet, but I might actually think about it more seriously after this great experiment. A few links to try: http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/355 http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/508 http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/461 http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/515 http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/529 http://www.mecabricks.com/embed/435 Quote
weavil Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Just tried it on my Droid X and it worked with one of th models. Used Firefox of course (the new version of chrome doesn't work on my phone). But while I was there I decided to see if Mecabricks would let me build or not. It did! But for movement and rotation I had to use the controls on the side of the page. It was a bit laggy, but that might be because I need to update Firefox. Quote
Scrubs Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Thank you for you trial. I can understand that it's laggy for the workshop as it's pretty demanding even on a computer and not very optimised yet. I know I have some work to do on that . Sliders are not the easiest to move the parts! Quote
weavil Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Well if I had a tablet it might be easier. Zoom in till I can still see the piece and the sliders. The tablet would have more horsepower than my phone. Quote
Kim72 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Sorry for reviving this ancient topic, but i cant seem to find any technic elements in there. Am i Just nog looking at the Right place or should i use a Different software on an Android tablet? Quote
Scrubs Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Mecabricks works fine on Android tablets now (on ios too). There are a good amount of Technics bricks. Just browser the categories. E.g. Beams, connectors, etc. There are more than 5000 parts nowadays in the database. Quote
