pocketmego Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 How hard they push to get the rights might be determined by Transformers 4's success. The whole point of trying to an HF film franchise of the ground is to get some of that tasty robot, money pie. Shame, really, because even the worst HF episode hasn't been nearly as INCREDIBLY STUPIDLY AWFUL as Transformers 3. Quote
Chro Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I wasn't a huge fan of the Bayformers series, but I disagree that they were worse than the HF episodes... XD Quote
pocketmego Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 I wasn't a huge fan of the Bayformers series, but I disagree that they were worse than the HF episodes... XD No, I was being specific for a reason. TF 1 AND 2... BAD, but not unwatchable. Transformers 3 is a situation of disaster so abhorrent, insurance companies should cover people for it. The only reason it isn't higher on my list of worst movies of all time...is because GI JOE: Rise of Cobra was somehow...INCONCIEVABLY...worse. In that it was barely even a movie. Quote

I actually kind of liked the third movie. Maybe I'm just biased because I live in Chicago. Though I am glad you brought up how the HF Movie's production may depend if Trans4mers is good. I mean, if that movie just bombs in the Box Office, LEGO may no longer want to produdce the film. Quote

PenPlays Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Bay signed for another three... You see, I'm the one that absolutely loves the Transformers movies (the least being the second), and if I were to even compare Hero Factory to this, I would be making quite the unfair comparison. Hero Factory is a Television show aimed for children, and the TF movies are for teens+, they cannot be compared as they are too far apart on a "target audience" scale. I also find this "information" on Bay considering a Hero Factory movie a complete hoax. Just another fan that is being hopeful, but the entire fanbase believes him... Quote

Bay would be THE WORST choice for an HF movie. A Hero Factory film would HAVE to be character based to have any chance of success. Bay has proven very incapable of giving any Transformers beyond Prime, Bumblebee, and the racist minstrel bots any real character. If there had to be humans in an HF MOVIE (yuk), they couldn't and shouldn't be better developed characters than the heroes. Bay's humans were horrid one note characters, but they were at least better developed than 80% of his robots. Quote
bacem Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 as far as i know, the one who did HF movie is the one that does predators... Quote
pocketmego Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 as far as i know, the one who did HF movie is the one that does predators... Robert Rodriguez? Of Desperado, Spy Kids, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn Fame? If this is true he might be a REALLY good choice. He's solid building interesting characters, has done successful kids movies, and is possibly one of the single GREATEST action directors of ALL TIME. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Gosh, everyone was making a huge deal about this news a while ago and now nobody remembers any of the important details: Here's the original article. The important facts: Universal was in negotiations to make a movie based on LEGO Hero Factory. Michael Finch and Alex Litvak (who wrote, not produced, Predators) were in negotiations to pen the script. Universal had Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff, Ben Forkner, and Dean Schnider in mind as possible producers. Michael Bay has nothing to do with this; pocketmego was just mentioning the Michael Bay Transformers films as the obvious motivation for Universal to pursue more movies based on popular toys (and the third one specifically as an example of how a Hero Factory film should not be done). This is unrelated to the 22-minute episode being produced by Ghost and Advance. There have been no subsequent news updates, so there's no evidence that the negotiations even went anywhere. Quote
pocketmego Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Well to be fair, I don't think I was here when this came up, originally. Quote

Glad I'm not the only one, whenever toyline movies come up at least half the thread ends up as people going off their nut about how much a crime against humanity the Transformers movies are. Ignoring all the good it did for Transformers as a franchise and all the nice things it got for the fans. Quote

DraikNova Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 This is going off-topic completely. Anyway, am I the only one wondering what the effect would be if HF would get a proper TV show, and, with that, a detailed storyline? Quote
ToaBulk98 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Well, I'm pretty sure if HF got a proper show, we'd see more sets. Quote
pocketmego Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 I believe a proper HF show might boost the lines popularity and show off its true potential. Quote
ZORK64 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Well, I'm pretty sure if HF got a proper show, we'd see more sets. Eh... I doubt that. The thing is, Ninjago is very much comparable to LEGO System, while Hero Factory is not, being a constraction line that is mostly compatible with the Technic line. So I wouldn't expect a noticable increase in sets just because of a TV show. What we could get, though, would be a overall more entertaining story. I just posted my thoughts on this in another topic.
