edsmith0075 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Hey gang, I started to work on a bridge for my trains and would like some feedback or advice. I have taken pics of what I have so far. I would like advice on colum and pillar design to support this bridge. Honestly I don't want to go to high from the ground because I run the trains on the ground and building an elevation higher up gets too long and tacky. Thanks for looking.... Quote
edsmith0075 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 OMG I love the design! I need to go home and dig through my parts bins and build this! Thank you for the feedback! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 The bridge design is really nice. Not sure about pillars? How high do you want it to go, I know that you said not that high, so how high is not that high? The bridge looks a little close to the water as it is, but I think just a couple of bricks higher would give it a much better look. I think if you want it to be simply that high off the ground then the bridge sides are a little high for that, the difference looks too great between the height of the bridge sides and the distance to the water. I would not go too fancy with the pillars as you do not want to detract from the good design of the bridge itself. Maybe just use simple round pillars in black of BLEY? Quote

Lazarus Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Very common design, so does not look much diffrent from the last. Key things i would think of would be how high are you going to have this. how are you going to get the loco there. You dont always need to rase the track you could always lower the base boad. Quote

Now I just need more track! Hey do you think that design would work well with Flex-Track? Edited May 3, 2013 by Fugazi removed quoted images Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I've never tried the flex track on the bridge but I don't think it works fine Quote
LegoSjaak Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Hi Ed, i used one single pillar in the middle.......it has an urban look like this... For the rest you could use the concept of Lego Train 12 Volts.... Quote
edsmith0075 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Love the suggestions! Guess I know what I'll be working on this weekend :) Quote
Younge Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The funny thing is, I just ordered parts off Bricklink for a very similar looking bridge that I have built in LDD!!!! My bridge will be fairly low profile - maybe 3 bricks off the baseplate. Keep up the good work!!! Quote
DaveBey Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Those are some awesome bridge designs! Ever since I saw the pictures from LEGO World a couple years back, I've really wanted to build bridge supports using 98283: Profile Brick 1x2 Single Gro., either in Medium Nougat or Medium Stone Gray. Good luck with your bridge project; I can't wait to see what you design! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave Quote
