Marvelfan120 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Anyone else in love with NBC's Grimm? http://www.nbc.com/grimm/ and now a comic book is coming https://www.dynamite.com/htmlfiles/viewProduct.html?CAT=DF-Grimm anyway, i am seriously geeking out over this one... anyone else in the same boat? Tanma Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I've been following it since season 1, it's been enjoyable. I have to say Monroe is one of my favorites, he is just so dorky sometimes. And with fantasy there is always a danger that different species are generalized and simplified, so the idea of a big bad wolf who loves making clocks I find refreshing. Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) I think his dorkiness is a key to his characters popularity and the shows success. it provides a depth to his character and an element the average joe can really relate to... are you gonna check out the comic book? Marvelfan120 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 found a interview with the creators of the comic and a preview of issue 0 http://www.comicvine.com/articles/interview-marc-gaffen-kyle-mcvey-talk-grimm-comic-/1100-146262/ Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yeah I've been watching the show since season 1 thanks to my girlfriend. I really enjoy it for the most part, however I find some episodes to get a bit repetitive. It usually goes a little something like this: bad guy does something bad, investigate crime, track down bad guy, fight bad guy, and finally bring them to justice. Quote

True, I see that as less and less of a problem as the creatures get more interesting and the stories more involved. It was a problem for over half of the first season episodes but less 1/3 of the second season. You gonna check out the comic? Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Eh probably not. Not that I won't think it will be great, just more of the fact that being a student and all my other expenses are hard enough to keep up with Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I've thought about checking it out before, but I've heard that Once Upon a Time is far better... Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Eh probably not. Not that I won't think it will be great, just more of the fact that being a student and all my other expenses are hard enough to keep up with I know exactly what you mean. Luckily I have some room in my budget at the moment for the comic. I've thought about checking it out before, but I've heard that Once Upon a Time is far better... Depends on who you ask. I like grimm better... I'd recommend checking both out, they are both good shows. As it is I have time for only a few shows so I picked grimm. Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I've thought about checking it out before, but I've heard that Once Upon a Time is far better... I wouldn't say it is better. It's actually pretty hard to compare the two because they really are extremely different. However they are both great shows, so you can't go wrong with watching either! Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 It's the same old thing Grimm v once upon a time as marvel v DC, star wars v star trek etc. in the end the only thing you can say is everyone has different tastes, so decide what you like and watch that... just let the rest of us make our own choices. Marvelfan120 Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 and now it's been renewed for season 3 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/26/grimm-renewed-nbc-season-3_n_3043881.html Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Not much of a surprise but definitely good to know! Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 nothing surprises me when it comes to network television... so I was slightly concerned they could cancel it. You'll never go wrong overestimating the stupidity of a network executive... especially one working for NBC Quote
Masta' Blasta' Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I watch it, too. What did you guys think about the last episode? It had an interesting twist and it looks like the Juliette story arc is finally getting resolved. Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I loved it, the way the eye still glowed red and looked around for a minute after the demon shattered was awesome!... I too am glad the Juliette thing is wrapping up... I think her character is finally going to grow into someone interesting when she knows the whole truth... I'm not sure what the twist you're referring to is... Not sure if I missed something or if I'm just to tired to remember... It is getting late. Quote

Marvelfan120 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 The fact that the demon wasn't a vesen is the twist. There was already the ghost, but whatever. Looks like tonight's episode is... oh man, i love that dude... completely out of his mind but funnier than most... and yeah, Wesen, ghosts, demons and... Aliens? I like that they don't just stick hard to the grimm stories but get a little of every kind of lore out there to create their own brand. Quote
Vindicare Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Yeah I've been watching the show since season 1 thanks to my girlfriend. I really enjoy it for the most part, however I find some episodes to get a bit repetitive. It usually goes a little something like this: bad guy does something bad, investigate crime, track down bad guy, fight bad guy, and finally bring them to justice. Not sure how I missed this thread... What you described is every cop show out there. Unless its a multi part story, of course the events happen in that order. They always have to catch the bad guy(s). I like the show and the comic. I'm glad to see theres a difference in story to the comic. I won't go into details so I don't spoil anything. Quote
joerminer Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 My wife and I just finished watching season 1 on Amazon Prime Instant. We're fans of the show. Only downside is that we have to wait for the next season to come out on Amazon now (we use Amazon and Netflix, don't have TV stations currently). Personally, I like Once Upon a Time a little bit more, but I'm still a fan of Grimm. We are anxious to learn of Juliette's fate after being scratched by the cat at the end of season 1 (please don't tell me!). Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 a new grimm fanfic site has just been launched http://fanfic.grimmforum.com/ Quote
fred67 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Only just found this thread. The wife and I both like the show... Except they are rooted in fairy tale, I don't see how you can compare to Once Upon A Time (or the new spinoff - both of which we also watch). It can be a bit repetitive, they maybe didn't think the premise through. The initial idea was maybe good enough for a season. But like a lot of shows, it can still be fun to watch (House was pretty much exactly the same show every time, but I liked that one, too), or the ongoing multi-story line takes up enough to keep it interesting (the X-Files was brilliant at that). It's not our favorite show, though... but it's fun to watch. Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) did you check out the fanfic site.... It'd just started but the first sotry is very good so far, me thinks. Edited November 5, 2013 by Marvelfan120 Quote
