So, any fan of Hero Factory knows by now that the ball sockets introduced in the 2.0 wave has gained a reputation for being the most sturdy joints in an constraction line.

But even so, it seems that the new ball sockets are no stranger to the cracks and fractures that plagued many BIONICLE collectors.

Both the feet on Furno 2.0 have some serious cracks in them. Even his armor cladding is developing very tiny cracks.

The hand on my Evo 2.0 set has a small crack in it, and I recently saw a video on YoUtUbE where a kid showed of Evo's arm and the joint had completely broken.

Anyone else on the forum experiencing stuff like this?

The connections on the feet look similar to the Bohrok feet, which have developed cracks a lot (at least mine have). I think any thin part under a lot of stress will develop cracks over time.

When did you buy Furno 2.0 Maybe you got a rare molding problem.

I bought him when the 2.0 figure first came out back in 2011. I rarely took his feet off.

BTW, how's Thunder 2.0 coming along?

And Sid, its the standard HF/Ben 10 socket, not the old 2001 socket.

How's your weather? Humid, warm?

Some of the first 2.0 bricks could have had flawed production that made the plastic less resistant to time. It is interesting that the feet have the same crack in the same side.

Actually, they're both left side, but on his right foot it's on the back left, and on his left foot it's on the front left.

I personally have not experienced this phenomena, and I do a heavy amount of MOCing.

Too. Never saw this before. You are either very unlucky Jetrax or someone did something with it and didn't tell you I guess.

How do you store your parts? A lot of ways cause parts to become very brittle.

My sets are mostly on display, but when I put them away, I remove the arms, legs and head from the body, but all the parts stay connected.

I've seen some examples of 2.0 joints becoming severely brittle because the owner had (for some reason he didn't make totally clear) sprayed them with ant spray. Is there any chance your sets could have been exposed to any kind of chemicals (for instance, if you had to have an exterminator in your house at any time)?

Otherwise, I have no idea what could have caused this problem and I sure hope it's just a fluke. I've never heard of age alone causing such severe fragility in these kinds of parts.

I'm leaning towards problems with the molding process as none of the other pieces are showing signs of this, and they've been through the same treatment. My recon hero went through more and none of his pieces are showing this.

And no, it hasn't been exposed to any chemicals.

In a similar incident, NSSD sprayed some pesticide thing throughout his MOC room and almost every single joint broke... but I suppose that since

it hasn't been exposed to any chemicals

that wouldn't be the case here.
