racedees Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Been workin on this golden oldie last weekend. Had a lot of thinkwork of how to make the combi between old and new. Here are the photo's, will make some vids soon. And some detailpictures of the mechanisms Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Interesting mod.....you have managed to motorize all of the functions. But it is only a 'shell', what about adding more of a body to it? Quote
legomuppet9 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Looks good Interesting mod.....you have managed to motorize all of the functions. But it is only a 'shell', what about adding more of a body to it? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=8862-1 it was only ever a shell in the first place Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Yes I know,I do have the set myself..... It would of looked even better with just four big yellow pates and a nice black grill at the back.... Quote

I try to make them as close to the real thing as possible,I try not to skimp on the bodywork. Edited April 8, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

I have to agree tho... this would look better with a bit of covering up (hide the power functions if anything... Quote
timslegos Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I would agree that hiding the pf parts might make it look better, otherwise its great. tim Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I think the best way to cover up the batox and recivers is to ut it in the one outlined box that is not fully covered behind the cabin and then cover it up, otherwise it looks pretty good, i can't wait for the video to come out! Quote
SheepEater Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I don't like the newer wheels on it. Can't you find a way to use those classic 80s technic wheels? Quote
DLuders Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 @ racedees: Your motorized 8862 Harvester is really neat! It blends the best of the old and new Technic systems (studded + studless). If you ever display it at a Lego Users Group (LUG) or Lego convention, many people will be able to "relate" to it since it "looks like Lego" and is fun to drive! Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Looks very powerful, maybe you could make a working blade, funnel? Quote
