8094 Control Centre Mod

I've motorised the up and down of the pen in the plotter from the Control Centre set 8094.

The LDD file shows the Power Functions M motor, but I've actually used the oldest motor to be more in keeping with the original model.

The two yellow 1x4 technic bricks and the two 8-tooth gears are as the the original design, the two 1.16 technic beams represent the orignal beams.....

I'd like to get better (finer) control, but this is a first MOD/MOC.

I've taken photos and video, but the effort of making them smaller, loading them into BrickShelf or my own website is too much at this time of day. I just want to go and play......

How about gearing down a 42 tooth gear with a 8 tooth gear for more precise control?

I have done that almost 6 years ago using only parts from the 90s and original 9v motor.

Hi all,

yeah this thread is pretty old - but why not try to dig out some really old things?

I've gotten me a 8094 set and I've built the pen plotter model. It also works with the Mindstorms RCX yellow programmable brick (see my Mastodon/Fediverse account: https://chaos.social/@maehw/112588710501097292).

However, I'd also like to lift and lower then pen with a third motor. Unfortunately, the OP's link is broken and the YouTube video in the third post does not really allow me to copy the mechanics. I am more the electronics/ embedded software guy and could need some help with the mechanics.
