obsidianheart Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Nearest LEGO store is 2 hours from me, and I can only get out there on the rarest of occasions. I used to work in one of those other places, but was in my dark ages and funneled all my money into a different hobby. Bought all the Exo-Force sets, though. I dunno, mechs, you know? Quote
howie28 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Nearest Lego store for me would be... LEGOLand Malaysia! But even that isn't a real Lego store... It's owned by Merlin Entertainments. Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I live about 15 min (drive) away from the Mall of America store, 3 Targets all within a 8-10 min drive, a TRU about 8 minutes away (right across the street is one Target,) and about 8 minutes away is a Walmart. -Sci Quote

Similar thing with us, actually My son is good friends with the Westfield store manager (formerly Cardiff). We live in France now, so we don't have any Lego stores near us, but the Westfield manager has said we can purchase things from him and he'll send them over to us. Quote

ShaydDeGrai Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 ... But as I tell my wife "at least I never get an invite to the LEGO Black Friday event" she finds that very comforting. Oh sure, bring _that_ up... Boy, I'm glad my wife never reads this forum. I _may_ have forgotten to mention to her that those invites are related to my spending habits. Quote

TheLegoDr Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 The closest LEGO store is about 3 hours away in Kansas City, so we get there maybe once a year. I think usually I still order most of my sets from S@H when they do special figures or deals, even though other retailers may have better prices. It all depends on what will be better, getting a free figure from LEGO or getting a discount somewhere else and then buying the figure through another way. Although I work near a Target, a B&N, and ShopKo (I never go into the latter two) and then we have 2 other Targets in town, 3 Wal-Marts (soon to be 4), and then probably another 4 ShopKos and a TRU (which is really far out of the way). So basically I only see what Target has to offer since it is close by, otherwise I know everything about LEGO through here and S@H. If a LEGO store would be nearby, I would just shop there instead of ordering them online (thankfully I receive them within 2 days of ordering since I'm close enough to the distribution center). But I know I would get pick a bricks more often (depending on the pieces available). This last time it was terrible, but I still got one since we never get to go. But if I lived near it and it was crap, I wouldn't buy one. Quote

I've never made it down to the KC Lego store, would really like to check it out as I've never even seen a PAB wall. Lincoln is blessed with an abundance of stores that carry Lego, just not at the prices we would like to see. Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I go to my store at least once a month, if not more. I'm about a half hour from Water Tower Place, depending on the trains. I'm glad I have one nearby, as it keeps me from spending $$ at TRU. I do, however, miss the grab bags- they were a huge draw for me. Looking forward to my visit on May the Fourth! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Same for me. I don't have problems with not buying sets (specially as I live close to a nice toy shop), but having a LEGO store with a PaB wall would be great for small trips just to check it out. Usually, I get there lots of goodies for town building. Yet sometimes I wouldn't mind having a shop closer, just for PaB. Quote
