natelite Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 In the US it's number 6 in the best-sellers list at the moment. omg. i didn't know. last night when i placed the order it wasn't on the list. i'm gonna put the order for another 4 then. btw, vader - you can't compare this to ucs sd. it doesn't have a certificate. the certificate changes everything. a diamond with a certificate of authenticity is worth like 10x more than a diamond without. if you want to just own the set, then get a second production set (or a used one). a first production with a cert will fetch top dollars. especially considering that this is the first time they are doing this. this will beat out 7191 in terms of hype. i dont think first production will run out. they are taking orders now so they can estimate how many sets to make for the first production. i think if the demand is good they might extend the offer to the second production. if that happens then the set will not be as expensive. more on sale = more supply -> driving prices down. btw, i dont work for tlg. just wanted to make sure EBers dont lose out on an opportunity like this, either to own or to make some money. just think - CTT and the arc-170 are now out of stock in the US and see how much they are fetching on ebay. just 2 month's ago, they were on sale in TRU for buy 1 get 1 50% off. and it's not like they will ever make another ucs mf before 2011 when the licensing expire. as with any investing, there are risks involved. prices can go up or down. my gut feel is that this will be a blockbuster. we shall see in 5 years if i was right. ;-) Quote

Errr i wasnt compairing this to any other set |-/ , To me this set is fantastic and i dont blame anyone for wanting it, all i said was that i fail to see why everyone is raving about a certificate unless they plan on selling it in the future. natelite Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 you know there is a limit so people like you wouldn't buy loads so not to give others a chance!dont be selfish let others buy it! (not being rude) hello? it's pre-order. there is no "limit". they haven't even started cranking the machines yet. once they know how many to make they will start making them (which is by 31 march when the offer ends). as for certificate - yes, first edition is that much more expensive even if you decided to keep it. just like comics. :-D it's sad, i know. sam89 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 precisely. glad you catched on. I don't think so. It'll still cost $500 when the certificate isn't included anymore. Quote

Scouty Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Limit 5 Per Person ;-) . Chhh, I want a MF for 10 Euros!!! Quote
Vader Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Like sam said the prices of sets are determined by the amount of pieces in the sets and has nothing to do with the cerificate thats included. As for getting one of these babys cheaper well i wouldnt hold my breath. Quote
mutley777 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Well i orderd it! :-) My wife let me put it on her credit card and i will pay it off :-$ . Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I don't think so. It'll still cost $500 when the certificate isn't included anymore. I think that he meant on the secondary market, bricklink and such, the price will be higher for first edition, which is definitely true. Quote
natelite Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I don't think so. It'll still cost $500 when the certificate isn't included anymore. what i meant was in the ebay or bricklink market. :-P of course tlg won't change the price. if anything, they will probably raise it. just look at the 2005 police station. it retailed for $50. then increased to $70 recently. edit: SW4J got to it b4 me. thanks. CopMike Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Well, at least the question about the swooshability has been settled X-D! Swoosh On copmike Quote
Vader Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Hmmm i wonder if its been glued? Lego has been known to use glue before on display sets. Quote
Zane Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I'm thinking Technic beams across the inside. Take off the middle bit and hold onto the beam in the middle for swooshing. ;-) Quote

X-D Quote
mutley777 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 :-$ I seem to have made a error here. Some how i got the impression it was a limited edition set like the USB was, not that the certificate was the only limited edition thing. :-$ OPPS!!! Oh well i have ordered it now :-D Quote
Zane Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I believe that's exactly what he's done. And well done to him for designing a 5000 piece set with swooshability! X-D Lol, yeah. It's basically a Technic frame with System all over it, so I'd think it'd be pretty sturdy for swooshing. Heavy though. Still, I won't be getting it, despite wanting a MF so, so much. It's just too much money for me, and is kind of an impractical thing to have in such a small room, lol. Plus, the interior is basically non-existant. Though I love the figures. Such a stressful time. :-P The second MF will have to be the one I buy, really. Quote
