Do they affect your hobbies that have nothing to do with Lego to your Lego constructions?.

In my case I've drawn all my life and I think that helps me a lot in my MOCs but certainly not in the mechanical part , which curiously never liked, until now. The fact that I like rugby because I played it as a prop and that I've been lifting weights almost 20 years, I think it just helps me breaking more bricks of the account... Obvious thing is that all my life I liked the heavy machinery.

I think LEGO was one of my first hobbies, so i think LEGO influenced the others. Before LEGO I played with erector sets, "30in1" circuit boards, and mostly broke things. But after LEGO I built buggies and ran/programmed machinery. Now I program video games! Thanks mindstorms!

5 years of games programming later, when I look at a LEGO model, the wheels start turning much faster. I analyze it like a software project. I try to work in stages, making tests and choosing the best iterations. Not getting hung up on small details until the big picture is realized.

I think they interact very much, and it is a pleasure to share that with other people who feel the same!

Apart from that, I have always been creating stuff. I did paper modelling (modelled after existing vehicles but the design and "technology" was my work), I was programming (still am, but not intensively) games (including "art") and other desktop applications (usually math heavy stuff). I played the drums in a progressive metal ultra-amateur band, did 3D modelling (apart from university) in 3dsMax, I'm interested in (and made a few) hand drawn animations, etc.

I've played with lego for as long as I remember, developing my skills over time. I've also been brought up around motor racing, sidecars inpaticular, and have spent many hours looking at the mechanics. I try to use my knowledge of vehicles into moc's, but it doesn't always work .

Maths is not a gift, it can be learned by anyone and it should be. It gives you so many possibilities in life that's beyond imagination.

Almost the same. I have a Mechanical Engineering degree and the thought of possibly working for TLG after graduating was certainly a factor in my choice. I've ended up becoming a software engineer so I'm still building, kind of. Having a target, breaking it down into reusable blocks of functionality and making sure they all then work together is the same kind of problem.

I actually used to work in 3D solid-modelling about 15 years ago so the amount of functionality in LDD, LDraw and similar nowadays is amazing.

I work as a unskilled builder and plant operator,so now you know why I only build machinery....as it is what I know.

Instead of building Lego ones I get to drive real ones.

LOL, on this side of the pond we would say. Wooosh, that went right over your head, LOL. For me its a hobby, I like working with wood, building furniture. I work at a body shop, mechanical things are kinda in my blood, LOL. I,ve all ways had an intrest in heavy equipment, earth moving, cranes. But for the most part it does'nt stop me from enjoying the other things I do.

Chorlton very well explained, I didn´t dare with my poor English . Alasdair I've always dreamed of operating heavy machinery but only one day because I'm not very skilled. My gym mates joke with me saying... why do you drive it?, If you are heavy machinery , this video is from 2010 with two 50 kg dumbbells, now I'm stronger but also less thin .

I always liked mechanical things, my mother says my pedal car spent more time upside down being repaired than driven, I even pulled her washing machine apart to fix it once, that was before I got to kindergarten. Meccano and HO trains were my favorite toys, though I was also known to be kept busy with a hammer, nails and a few bits of wood. I also ran an electronics club at High School.

I would have liked to have been a strutural engineer, but became a Telecommunications Technician, then Linesman. After a redundancy I started a landscaping business, that led me into building houses, also some commercial work on stores and multi storey apartment buildings. After 15 years building I ended up working for a crane and construction company as a carpenter, and did some machine operating and heavy truck drinving when required, but eventually left there and started working for another crane and construction company as a Hiab operator. I also drive Tractor/ trailer units, rig and de-rig the cranes and transpoting them and heavy machinery, as well as rigging and dogging for the cranes.

I have always enjoyed building cars and engines, mostly V8s, and raced a saloon as well as suporting crew for midgets and stock cars. I also like motorcycles, offroad and sports, prefering Kawasakis. Since my Saint Bernards grew too big for standard staion wagons I now have Landrovers, currently a 3.9V8 auto 110 hardtop and will soon be building a new 4.6V8 auto 110.

Basically I need to know how stuff works. My ultimate goal is to understand a bit better how the universe works, so I'm currently studying physics to achieve that goal. I'm usually not content in just knowing the answers, but I also want to know why and how. This is why I also enjoy building Technic and creating mocs of my own.

Well I've been somewhat of an artist ever since I first picked up a pencil. I used to draw nature scenes, even coral reefs, but since late elementary/early middle school I've become fascinated with mechanical things, and I love cars, trucks, buggies...vehicles in general, so that's all I draw now I've also tested my sculpting skills by taking a ceramics/pottery class this year, and so far I've made some of the best works in the class according to my teacher. And a new hobby I started this year is mountain biking-great fun and exercise but also a chance for me to learn how to replace parts and tune brakes, maintenance, upgrades etc...something to replace lego if i ever go into a 'dark age' which I most likely will as I've been finding less and less time to work on things... oh well, and by the way my newest WIP drawing of a mazdaspeed 3-

I started off with Lego, but it did influence me quite a bit, cause I want to go for Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Or Aerospace at U of Toronto :D

Welldone z3-drive, another nerd´s draw , now I just doing quick sketches like this but before I drew many machines but only draw without pencil and I hate painting since I was a child .

Funny that, I like quick sketches and HATE painting... 3D drawings of mechanical solutions in pencil is what I'm best at...
