Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows how I could paint the front part (around the eye slit) of a Kingdom lion knight sugarloaf/crusader-like helm gold while leaving the rest the original silver color?

Comments appreciated.

very carefully with a paint brush and gold paint, to be honest it might be worthwhile having paint that will come off as I have had a lot of parts in lots that are ruined by marker / paint so maybe something water based.

I cannot think of another way than just using a fine brush. The upper side will be quite easy I guess. Since there are some straight lines you could try to use tape to cover up the areas that are not supposed to be painted.

The fine margin between the upper side of the pattern and the actual helmet can be problematic. At least it was with the helmets that I painted. Better decide before if you want that line painted or not, it might be easier to leave it.

Hi,

How about getting a bottle of masking fluid. Paint this on the areas you want to remain unpainted, and when dry paint the new visor colour using an acrylic. The masking should just peel off after everything is dry. Given the size of the helmet, you will probably need to use a fine brush, especially for the masking fluid (just remember to wash the brush in soapy water to get all the masking fluid off).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. I may actually spray paint it gold and then tape off the front visor design, and then spray paint a coat of silver on.

Would that work?

Sounds like a good deal of work, but it is worth a try. If you can manage to tape off so detailled...

The helmets are not very expensive, so there ist not much to loose I guess.
