Dreadredbeard Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Was reading through Sariel's book and I came across this image: I suppose I'm looking at this wrong, or my depth perception is off, but how did he mount the motor to the linear actuator without using the 2 mounting points on the bottom of the actuator? Or is the mount at the top of the assembly with some pieces hanging off the bottom? Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I have two of those...they only come in the dumper and telehandler. Quote
Dreadredbeard Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Sad... I really wish Lego had ALL legos available from the pick a brick store. Paying $40USD+ on 4 of those just isn't worthwhile for the current project. But the mounting solution I have right now is to weak :( Thanks for the prompt responses! Quote
Sariel Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 You may want to consider using the L motors. They offer way more mounting options. Quote

Speak of the devil :P I currently only own 4 "L" motors, and they are currently in use in the model's drive train. The "m" motors I am using are only running a single linear actuator each so an "L" motor would be very overkill. Quote

D3K Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Use this little contraption as a substitute: Does the same job, is pretty solid, and only slightly bigger than the original part. (2x2x3 vs 2x3x3) Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I like the new ideal as i do not have any of those parts either, but one could still buy it from bricklink. Quote
RohanBeckett Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 heh.. always amazed when I see the price of an odd part, that I have quite a few of! (2 dumpers, and 2 telehandlers!) funny.. don't think I've actually used them in anything much! RB Quote

Use this little contraption as a substitute: Does the same job, is pretty solid, and only slightly bigger than the original part. (2x2x3 vs 2x3x3) Very clever! If I can't get my hands on some of the original part I will be doing this, thank you very much! they are available through the bricks and pieces online Apparently they are unavailable right now :( Quote
BondemandClausen Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I have just tried to order it from the TLG sparepart department in Denmark. Allthough it looked like i could order it, for around 1 US dollar, i got a mail from TLG today, that they do not produce them any more, and they are out of stock. So if you need the part, Bricklink is the only way. The solution above should do the job :-) Quote
