How to learn military building techniques

Please tell me some good ways to learn building army related stuff, mostly vehicles, troop carriers, tanks and artillery. Are there any blogs or sites or books?

I do not like or endorse wars, its the sheer beauty of the carriers from an engineering (and modelling) point of view, just like a crane or a train engine, that draws me to them.
