piterx Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hi everyone! I've already posted a wip of this model but anyway now i got the video and some decent pictures ^^ Some months ago I made this remake of one model that I really loved almost 20 years ago: the 8858! It's not an accurate replica, it's just made by eye :) Anyway it was funny to drive, it was powered by an XL motor with a gear ratio of 1:1. I used knob gears for the transmission to make it strong, so strong to make the XL motor stall sometimes! Hope you will like it! 8858 Features: - power functions - suspensions - return to center steering Measures: 27cm * 16cm * 15cm 794g weight Quote
DLuders Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Nice reproduction of the 1994 original 8858 Rebel Wrecker set (from Blakbird's Technicopedia): Edited March 7, 2013 by DLuders Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 This is pretty accurate, considering you did it by eye! Quote
phool Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 And here I was thinking just yesterday, that a studless version of this set would be pretty cool! Nice MOC, it looks great Quote
piterx Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 :P the oldschool look is hard to overcome! Quote
1974 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 True Actually, I think the original bodywork on your chassis might be the winner Quote
legomuppet9 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Great modernization of this interesting looking set Quote
clarkdef Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I actually have the old one currently built, it's sitting on my ps3. I used to always try to motorise it, by sticking that old super high rpm torqueless crud motor they had back in the day in it. haha that thing couldn't move itself. Anyway pretty awesome, and functional, be very hard for you to beat the look. It's a serious classic IMO the best. Quote
piterx Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Yeah i have the B model mounted on my Shelf :) so nice!! Quote
