Mariner Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) I'm doing a New idea for the Architecture range on cuusoo. Stadiums. But does anyone have any ideas on the scale this series uses? Thanks! Joe aka Mariner Edited April 13, 2013 by Rufus Indexed Quote
jFox Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Just by looking at the sets it doesn't seem like there is a set scale for the entire line, though maybe individual designers or projects choose a scale in advance and work from there. Compare the Robie House (which I think is the biggest of the sets) to something like the Seattle Space Needle (one of the smallest). Clearly not the same scale, right? Or it could be (as I've read some people do this for MOCs): Choose a part or parts that are perfect for a really significant feature of the piece, and then build around the scale of that one part. In the Space Needle's case, maybe the designer started with the dish pieces at the top, or maybe the hoses on the sides, and scaled accordingly. Most, however, seem to fit into about a square foot, so if you aim for that size you might be okay. Though the Robie house might stretch outside that, it seems a bit long. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I agree. I don't think there is a set scale, but the designers probably have a set number of pieces to use so they create their own scale that could best represent the true design in the smallest scale possible. Also, I'm sure they take into account the individual pieces that can be used and see which one would work for that scale. I would get a basic idea in my head and then try to match that with what pieces are available that could work. Some pieces are used that you wouldn't normally think would, and others end up looking out of place due to the proposed scale. Quote
Mariner Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) Thanks for your help guys... I have a good idea in my head of what I'll be doing. I might post a picture when I'm done. Edited March 2, 2013 by Mariner Quote
Stinky Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I think every set in this series has their own scale. Which is a pitty. It stops me from collecting them all. Quote
