Fuppylodders Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Me and my lovely girlfriend are planning on going to Legoland Denmark. I've been reading the reviews and everything seems good there. Just one thing I can't make my mind up on... Ideally, is 1 day realisticly enough or does it need 2 days? We are in our mid 20's but both enjoy Lego. Also, any tips for going there? I did search this website for possible answers but I couldn't find any. Sorry if there is and I've missed them. Thanks in advance :) Quote
LEGO Historian Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Have you been to LEGOLAND Windsor? I don't know the differences between the parks)... but Billund (the town) and the farming communities of Jutland don't hold a candle to the charms of Windsor and the River Thames as far as Oxford! Windsor, has a very quainte medieval town charm... with its' nearly thousand year old castle... that is unbelievably magnificent... (been there before their LEGOLAND opened). Not trying to dismiss Billund here... but I spent 3 summers at Oxford... and England rocks!! Quote
Fuppylodders Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Oh, nope, not yet. I live just south of England and so the whole 'England thing' is probably as impressive to me as Billund is to you... Which would be better? Windsor Lego park or Denmark Lego park? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Oh, Billund for sure! I have been going regularly to Windsor for years (annual family outing), whish is always fun, but Billund last year for the EB event was excellent! The environs and rides are great fun, some of which are better than the Windsor counterpart. You might want to take two days simply so you can enjoy it, the miniland, rides, sculptures and other attractions are not to be rushed through. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 however, at this time of year, head to California for a nice bit of Winter Sun I've only ever been to Windsor park many times and I've been to the car park and up to the enterance of the California park, but it was 6:30am and my flight was leaving that day so I could not stay which was annoying. I think if your a LEgo fan, you have to go to the home of Lego at some point in your life. Paul Quote
Fuppylodders Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Ahh lovely, thank you! California would be a bit too expensive for me at the moment. Perhaps in the future when I'm off my apprentice wage :P Billund it is =D Can anyone recommend a decent hotel to stay at that is relatively cheap and close by it? Perhaps within a short taxi distance or 30 minute walking distance? Quote
Pandora Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 This link has the info about last year's event in Billund, including where we stayed (which was a short walk from Legoland). Obviously the discount no longer applies. There was another hotel nearby that was also within walking distance, Hotel Propellen I think it was, plus there was the Lalandia resort, which was just across from where we stayed. Of course there's also the Legoland Hotel itself. Quote
