Aussie BJ Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 No I had to phone 3 different stores all had none. Price you pay for living in the sticks.
Electricsteam Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Aw, the poor old puddy tat ! Good to know that your cat is fine.........so you are challenging the tiger ! Ive got a really nice gas station in plan, but I cant decide if white or tan goes better with brown? Sadly no 4207 in my local Kmart which isn't that local anyway. Looks like it's just use what I've got. Good to hear the cats ok probably just ate some wild lego flowers! The Vet said she had all the symptons of ingesting Medication... I am picking up my cat from the Vet at 8:00am.Ok. Is there any rule on size? like 2x2 normal baseplates or 1 large grey base plate?
lightningtiger Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Ah, yes....size and also which scale is allowed.........minifig, maxi-fig or micro scale....good question I think ?

Hope the vet bill wasn't too painful.... What is a normal baseplate? A road plate or green plate right? which is 32 x 32 would that mean 2x2 = 64 studs x 64 studs? and X Large plates are 42 x 42? I'm not to concerned as I've only got road plates and a few half size X large plates. But I think a rule is necessary. Ah, yes....size and also which scale is allowed.........minifig, maxi-fig or micro scale....good question I think ? micro scale that would do my head in I like the idea of minifig scale..
lightningtiger Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I think minifig scale would be best since it's in the spirit of Legotown/Legoland of the old days (late 70's/early 80's) when service stations were more common. Now it's a waiting game for the leader of the conflict to speak again !

I also feel like we are in congress just as we pass a law we notice there is a unclear sentece or other things of the nature....So which goes better with brown? Tan or white?

On your question brown, tan or white.....it all depends on the era or style of gas station you are attemping. Example.....brown roof and white walls but with art deco or early 20th century features would work for a retro 1920's/1930's gas station.
Captain Green Hair Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Since there's nothing in the rules about it having to be a new MOC, here's mine! Good luck gas jockey's!

lightningtiger Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Well, I think it will all have to be new builds.....my only carry over will be a set of pumps.....but the actual building for mine will be totally new.

Sheshhh setting the bar pretty high there..... had to stop looking other wise I might end up plagiarizing some of the details. Looks good though. I am just nor sure if the white goes with the more pale colors... My problem is a lack of browns and tans. But I do think they go well with each other.

Hmmmm some details can't be built without looking too much like anothers person building like a Gas pump so maybe there is a small loop hole from small things?Off Topic... I just found a relic of my Lego GG1 while looking for parts for the Gas station
Electricsteam Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Looks like people are down for he count in the Servo Showdown AKA The Great Gas Station War (I like my name better) Beacuase of there is no way to make a Gas station on one 32x32 baseplate...

Dude what are you talking about......my 377 as a kid was on a 32x32 and my 7993 which I've had now for a few years is also on a 32x32 ? And a showdown sounds a little better than war.....Lego isn't a real fan of war stuff or the talk of war.....apart from in castle or licensed areas.

My Gas Station is one 3 Road baseplates and one large baseplate.I mean 2 16x32 Dark Gray..
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 So is that 3 road plates and 2 16x32's ? Must have a car wash is something special in it ? This contest is pretty open, it could have a workshop or car wash or whatever.....in a way the sky's the limit !
Aussie BJ Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've been working on a few test sites (T road plate and I road plate) and I have to agree 32 x 32 is challenging but it's very doable. I've only built on the 6 x 32 studs which make the store rather small but still attractive. Might pull apart my sons city garage (7642) for it's base plates and give that test before I start one for the showdown. So is that 3 road plates and 2 16x32's ? You dropping some hints there LT, Skys the limit hey.....!

Its just a 1920's?-1950's? gas station but I cant build it without the road baseplates and its a very large with a very odd shape. Plus I build everything building to be used in stop motion movies so they NEED to be big...
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Its just a 1920's?-1950's? gas station but I cant build it without the road baseplates and its a very large with a very odd shape. Plus I build everything building to be used in stop motion movies so they NEED to be big... I think the idea is pretty straight forward. The gas station itself must be contained within a 32x32 stud perimeter (or 2x 16x32, 4x 16x16, etc = 32x32). I don't see why it couldn't be photographed with surrounding scenes/roads, but I'm pretty sure the entry photos of the gas station, alone on 32x32, should be the main focus for final voting. This one you may have to rebuild or modify later for your stop motion filming
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I agree, this is about two things....the building and the pumps....that's what makes a service station these days.....even back in the 1920's.....I'm still deciding on doing very old or very new/modern ? Whatever it is it will be living in the end in my New Mannum layout for April.....since my town doesn't really have a proper gas station.
Electricsteam Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 To give some more things to stress over, I say we should either post a picture of the gas station that the MOC will be based off of or a small bit of the gas station?
