That looks great. It could almost pass for a scale model railroad. As always your signage and printing is amazing.

Well the title has also fallen out of use in modern day Australia, but every AMPOL servo back in the 1940's and 1950's carried that word across it's garage entrance.

I shudder to think what sort of clientele you would get if you hung up a sign saying "Lubritorium" today? :look:

Thanks 'Faefrost' for your kind words and I could only guess at what "lubritorium" could mean these days ?

LMAO (no pun intended)... you and Faefrost must have been reading my mid when I first saw that sign.... I remember passing by a University of Michigan building in Ann Arbor Michigan, and seeing a sign for the first time.... "Natatorium"... which means bath house or pool house... I guess in this day and age it could also mean "Lubritorium".....

Then again... you gotta love those ancient Roman Latin words... such as "Vomitorium"....

Vomitorium is still in use in theatres. If I remember correctly it's the exit from the auditorium nearest the proscenium arch. Underneath the posh seat boxes.

It's amazing went things people talk about in these topics eh ?

'Vomitorium'.....what if the performance makes you sick you have somewhere to..... ......

Okay, this project is now done and dusted ready for the show......which I have to call the guy in charge and check to see how much space they are allowing the tiger.

It was commonplace here in New Zealand to see the "lubritorium" signage on garages and petrol stations; - mostly the older style Art Deco stucco buildings would have it above their lube bay entrance and as these garages were replaced by more modern buildings or else were given later period signage and paint jobs the "lubritorium" sign writing seemed to just disappear.

When I next go out of town to travel to the 'big smoke' I must check out some of the older garage buildings on the way to see if they still have it.

Yep, sounds like that title is one stuck in the past eh ?

'Shellubrication' used to be commonly seen on Shell petrol stations. Shell is now under new corporate ownership here in New Zealand so if any older petrol stations still have this signage they won't for very much longer.

Only if those stations are really old and disused......left to their own devices so to speak.

Dam, I can't use my AMPOL for the contest.....oh, wait.....I need to use this in the railway layout.....oop's !:laugh:

I'm still trying to come up with a grocery store design for my Art Deco series.....hence looking back at these designs might help me get some inspiration for the grocery store.

The street looks really nice, I love all the signs and the classic feel it all has!

Smart idea on those garage doors, I'm just assuming they are white stickers over the glass, or are there white panes available as well?

The only improvement point I can see is making the red background on the Coles sign more like the Lego red.

Thanks 'CRH' for your kind words and comments :sweet: .....yeah, it's always bugged me the colour of the Coles sign but it was hard to get my ip1200 Canon to produce true colours.

And yes, the garage white doors are stickers over badly scratched up window panes.

Edit - Oh, by the way notice any other changes to say the hardware store or inside the Coles ?

Since 'Free Spirit' over on ANZFOL wanted to see more of the milk bar I thought I'll posted it here too.

Everything is designed to be actually viewed from the front not the rear.....but I still enjoy tossing in as much detail as I can without over doing it.

I'm still having trouble finalising an Art Deco grocery store design too.

Excellent stuff. Quite captures the style of teh time-era.

Is there a photo of the folding door of the "Lubritorium" in folded position¿?

You asked for it......

Lots of great art deco shapings and details are in here - very inspiring!

Thanks 'ER0L', to tell the truth all the designs are from a previous series of MOC's.....but I chose to redevelop the street scape for Railshow 2013. Sadly kids weren't interested in this very much......grown ups on the other hand were very interested.
