Cerebros Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Didn't find a review on this set so l just bought this set recently and decided to post some photos. Not much of a reviewer of myself, so therefore l just present the photos. Box: Minifigs: Doom's Plane: First Level: Second Level: Third Level: Obviously some people are not going to happy that the building is not covered as a whole like we have with Modular Buildings but this set should be well-recieved more than Dr Octopus Set last year. Was impressed with the minifigs and perhaps one day there might be a exclusive Daily Bugle building from Lego like we have with Arkham? Overall, l am happy with this set, just that Dr Doom's plane is really plain and simple. PS. Lamp Post is supposed to be placed outside but l prefer it to be just at the side of the building. Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The minifigs are nice, but the rest.... Quote
Captain Settle Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I like the set, but I think a Peter Parker fig should come with it. After all, he does work there... Quote
Oky Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I like the set, but I think a Peter Parker fig should come with it. After all, he does work there... No, he doesn't. Not in the show this is based on. Quote
Repeter Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 No, he doesn't. Not in the show this is based on. They could've tossed us some Mary Jane...would've made alot of sense, in context to the show. Quote
Esurient Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Thank you for the pictorial review. I haven't got the set yet but will definitely get it once I get the chance to. Quote
Zaterdag Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Ehhh very disapointing. What does the C in DBC stand for anyway? My main complaints are that the chopper is ugly and the building is awful, especially compared to the amazing designs we've been seeing the last few years. The figs are nice (Dr. Doom!!!) but I would have like to have seen Nova's eyes printed on the helmet instead of his head. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I felt the build was more satisfying than the design itself... But as I said in another thread, just felt like the scale was way off... It makes the figs look like giants. Still, the figs are great. Especially Doom, and the Beetle's great too. Quote
Purpearljellyblob Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Great to see the new minifigures. Great review. Good job. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 This looks like it's an amazing playset, just not so good as a display set. It's packed to the brim with explodey pieces and trapdoors and dumpster catapults that make it pretty exciting to play with, and then you've got a swooshy VTOL craft and several great comic book characters. If I was a kid of, say, 6-12, I think this would be one of my favorite sets of the year. Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Thank you for the pictures. I'm not really collecting any Superheroes sets (I collect way too many themes already) but I must say I'm interested to see how the building might fit in a CITY setting. It has a very CITY-like feel to it, and I would love to add a Newspaper or TV studio to my layout. Instead of having Jameson on the monitor I would have live coverage of a crime or fire, referring to other current CITY sets. The fire escape is a very nice detail, and you get lots of black windows. The $50 price tag doesn't bother me since I just spent $70 on the Museum Heist, and that building is much smaller. I love the Dr. Doom figure- he translates very well into LEGO. All in all I think this is a decent set and tomorrow I'm going to go pick one up! Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I've never been one to obsess over mini-figures but I've always been something of a Dr. Doom fan so I decided to pick this set up. To be honest, if it weren't for Dr. Doom I wouldn't have looked twice at this one. Sure, the building has a number of play features (which mean nothing to me) but as a display model it falls pretty flat and I didn't expect a particularly complex build. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Aside from the two dozen "bonus" parts, this kit is actually has a fair number of terribly useful SNOT related parts, turn tables, and a lot of just "generally good to to have" parts in general. If you factor in the ridiculous prices some people are asking just for Nova and Doom on eBay, and Bricklink prices for some of the elements in this kit, it turns out to be a very reasonable value. I'm half tempted to pick up another just to scrap for parts. Quote
Blakstone Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I picked this one up on clearance. It is a great parts pack for city with eight of those windows, three green doors, and two clear doors. Dr Doom was great as well. Spiderman was a repeat for me and I don't care much about the Beetle. Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I bought this set for the figs. I was thinking about making it a modular building down the road. Quote
Bricknblue Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I just got this set for $35 because of a dented box. I really love it. The building is really nice for the normal LEGO style building we got in City theme a few years back. The pieces are awesome, I'm planning on making the tower another story taller because of the weird extra windows that are half covered up in the set. I really don't get mini figures. I would think Spiderman without his suit, and his girlfriend would be in the set, but I'll take the extra bad guys. Including an extra wing piece, which is awesome. Too me it's one of the best, if not the best, non-exclusive set of 2013. Quote
