Hiya,

My name is Fed, I'm from the Philippines. I practically grew up on Lego Space sets in the earlier part of my life. I recently got back into Lego because of Exo-Squad as Lego managed to pique my interest by going into Mecha (finally).

Nice to hear Lego's relaunching Space. Although, my first introduction to Lego was the 371 Sea Plane, it was followed by my first Space set - the 487 Space Cruiser, followed shortly after by the 497 Explorer. Lego was Space for me. :-D

Availability became an issue in the Philippines as my last Lego sets bought here were the 6980 Galaxy Explorer, and supply of new sets became scarce. The last Space set I had was the 6971 Command Base, bought for me (or my brother, can't really remember) in the US.

Though Space reemerged again here sometime in the late 80s, alas they were too expensive (the monorail definitely caught my eye). Then the Spacemen had a war and I was totally lost and disinterested in getting back into Space because the models had something lacking in what I liked. Even Star Wars didn't get me off my chair to buy a Lego set for some reason.

Recently, I was going around the malls looking around stuff and saw that the Exo-Force sets were being sold at the malls here in Manila. I got hooked and bought 7700 to 7705 and have only 7706 (Winged Phantom) left to buy. It was good timing since I quit several hobbies and was looking for something new to get into. It fit perfectly into what I wanted and I rediscovered my love for Lego.

Anyway, I still have some of my old pieces from Space (sans instructions), but I'm not really interested in rebuilding them. They're dusty and some of the old markings have rubbed off (from constant play).

What I was really hoping for is for Lego to surprise me with the upcoming Space set, just as they did with Exo-force. I saw some of the Mission to Mars stuff, and they weren't really impressive, apart from the drill machine.

Hello and welcome on board !

Nice to see that EURObricks is not limited in anyway in the Euro region *sweet*

I'm a fan of exo-force too. I think it's the perfect line to fill the gap of the space sets these last years and on top of that, I'm a big robot-mecha freak X-D

the upcoming mars theme received mixed feeling here. Let's just wait to have more informations, better pictures and the final sets between our hands to make a final judgment.

See you again soon on these pages.

Hello and welcome!

Classic space was also my first LEGO love.... *wub* We all wish that the new Mars Mission sets are a step in the right direction.... with better sets to follow up....

But city and castle were growing on me too, with very interesting new sets for this year.

It's nice to see you here, have a good time!

Thanks to all. *sweet*

I recently found a site where all the old instructions are scanned and posted. Too bad since I'm missing crucial parts to rebuild my Galaxy Commander...

But I looked at the instructions for the Galaxy Explorer and have been scrummaging through my pieces. I think I may have enough to rebuild it. :-$ Here's crossing my fingers and hoping that there's enough of those old pieces lying around to see if I can remake the thing.

The Online Lego community support is amazing. I've never seen this kind of fandom online have this much passion and support from the people. I've been head of an online support crew for an MMOG and have seen online fan support of all kinds, but the LEGO online community is something else.

Well, I'll be posting my first MOC soon (for the Exo-Force contest). Again, thanks.

I send you my best wishes for such a noble project.... *y*

Welcome aboard :-) I have a love of space as well, though I'm afraid I don't share your enthusiasm about Exo-force...they're just parts packs to me :-D

I know what you mean about dusty bricks though, that's the worst. Good luck trying to rebuild your old sets, and I hope you enjoy it here :-)

:-D After building a MOC with them, they're starting to look that way to me too. I love the minifigs and some of the crossover parts from Technic and Bionicle in the series to really give you an idea of the potential of Lego to make something new.

As of right now, I'm in awe of SNOT building, Greeble and other building concepts. I feel like I should load up on System parts/bricks. I feel like I may have a lot of unnecessaries if I go and buy Technic and Bionicle. From where I'm looking/observing from, bricks are still king.

I'm just curious to see if I can rebuild it. >:-) I have a picture of my old Starbase somewhere in our photo albums. I'll try posting it up once I find it. I once made a minifig scale USS Enterprise out of all my bricks that I never got a photo of. The top of the Circular base opened up, and the side of the core opened up like a dollhouse. I had three floors/bays: Command Central, Sickbay & Engineering. I even had a crude turbolift using the winch from the Castle set to move it to different floors. It wasn't pretty, but it was definitely fun to play with. :-D

In building my MOC, I found out how nitpicky I was with details. I guess age does that to you. :-P

As for dusting/cleaning my bricks, I'll try to wash the old stuff when I have the time.

Never had any sets after the starbase (6971), someone gave my brother 2 small technic sets later on, that's about all I got after.

As for liking them? Hmm... Space Monorail made my jaw drop. But generally didn't float my boat then. I may have different opinion, especially when I look for parts for projects. You may never know what piece fits. :-/

I liked Pirates, and wanted to buy the sets before, especially since I was playing Sid Meier's Pirates and got immersed in the history side of Piracy (basically I know who Edmund Teach and Henry Morgan is... :-D ) But I think this was before college and I had no money to pay for the prices they were asking then. (especially when you see the cost difference of Lego sold in the Philippines...)

But my heart's in Space. The ideas I'm coming up with are for Mecha and Space. We owned a yellow classic castle set and still have pieces of it (a ton of yellow bricks...) of which I'm scratching my head as to how to use them.
