Scouty Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I had this done a couple years ago, and Hopefully will do it this year if Snow falls and gives that fresh powder love look. Well, present you my Battle of Hoth The lonesome rebel, gulp! Gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=115111 This may be the wrong forum, so feel free to move. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 28, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 28, 2007 Wow, you used real snow to take these pics. Looking great (almost real)! Excellent pictures. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Nice! Could use a little bit more of a army, but other than that, it rocks! -ZotS Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 That's fantastic :-D Oh man, I need four of the new AT-ATs to set up a good scene if we ever get snow like that again <_< Quote
simonwillems Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Wow, great! That is almost the way George Lucas made the actual film that was done with models too. I love the way you did the snow, it looks sooooo real :-D I really like the distant shots of the AT-AT coming out of the shadows. Quote

Capn Kirk 911 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 your the first one I know hoiw actually used really snow, great job *y* ! Quote
Scouty Posted January 29, 2007 Author Posted January 29, 2007 Thanks all! There's no extra troops. That's all the hoth guys I have. I just bought two extra snowtroopers plus the two from the AT-AT set. I was quite careful whil placing these on the snow. You can see that the AT-ST was moved. I liked it there better. My favorite is picture number 7 with the shadows upon the AT-AT and AT-ST. Like I said, there might be another one this year. As these pics were taking a few years back. Quote
Janus Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Very cool! My only complaint is that you have the old AT-ST and not the hot new one. :-P Quote
Hobbes Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Looks cool, maybe a few FX would be nice, like laser blasts and explosions ;-) Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Very nice :-) , only thing i could do would be to sprinkle snow on the lego boards to hide them. Then I think it would look film-quality. Quote
Scouty Posted January 29, 2007 Author Posted January 29, 2007 Cough Cough These were taken a couple years ago The new AT-ST hasn't even been thought of when I made these pics. You see why the baseplates are on the snow? Because I don't want snow on my Legos! Only my baseplates can take such harm. So, I only placed them as is. Hobbes: Their is a picture in the folder that has fx. I may re-do this one for prettier graphics. Quote

lostcarpark Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 That looks amazing! Some friends and I did a Battle of Hoth at a Sci-Fi convention a few years ago. We didn't have real snow, though. More photos here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=173101 Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Very impressive IS. The snow adds the best background possible. I was going to suggest removing the baseplates as well, but just read why you have them there. You need a few white ones then. In any case, this looks really slick. I esp. like the scene with the snowtroopers. Lostcarpark: your scene looks good as well. I never got around to making a scene and taking pictures with my Hoth sets. :-( Quote
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 good except it's too obvious which side is going to win. :-D Quote
