Hello!

Since when I started to build a whole town, almost ten years ago, I wanted to add a cafe or something similar. Back in those days my town was modeled after the classic city sets, with small buildings, open back and such. It happened that I had mostly blue spare bricks, so my first cafe was blue...

It had almost everything you need to do a good coffee, included an espresso machine :)

One year later the building gained an additional floor, so I had this:

This time there was the chance to order some ice-cream too.

A few months later it was changed to something inspired to the classic city sets of the 80's:

But it didn't lasted too much. In 2006 I did a larger building, with more floors:

This is the basic scheme that lasted since today. In 2007, together to the first modular building, the well known Corner Cafè, I added a hotel to the existing blue cafe:

In 2008 I converted all the buildings to a "closed back" standard, but not modular yet. So I had this:

Finally I had a recognizable door to the hotel :)

In 2009 I changed all the buildings to the modular standard, at least for the building size. The first "almost modular" blue cafe was this one:

Even bigger and more details than ever!. Then, some personal issues stopped me to touch Lego for many months.

In 2012 finally I had the chance to rebuild almost everything, I moved to a new apartment with more space and converted everything to a real modular standard.

This is the first version of the blue cafe:

But I wasn't satisfied with the result: so I did a new version, with more details:

cafe9.jpg

But once again I wasn't satisfied: too "dark", only black and blue, anc the balconies look too odd.

So this is the latest, version, finished yesterday: I've added some light blue details and the building is a little higher.

How long this building will stay this way? It's hard to tell, but if there will be updates, I will post into this thread :)

Hope you liked :)

I like the evolution you've shown and there's plenty of great detail in each of the steps. I particularly like the light blue detailing in the last version.

Thank you for sharing it with us!

Thanks for sharing this evolutionary history of your blue café. It's really interesting to see, how it has developed from a classic town small café to a modular hotel. - You are right about the darkness of the building. But it has really helped with the light blue.

Have you ever made any interior for the bigger versions?

This is relly gret! I really liked seing the evolution from a small single story, one room cafe, to a multi-story, multi function cafe and. Hotel.

Thanks for sharing this evolution! I am looking forward to more installments.

I'll join the chorus appreciating the chance to see a design evolve. I can almost imagine those photos hanging on the wall of the actual blue cafe, showing the history of the business in different buildings or after different remodeling.

The final (for now) version is just great, too. The addition of the light blue makes it really pop.

I like all the changes you've made! The lighter blue really helps to lighten it, and I think you could go a bit further if you added some light bley details (around the windows, perhaps?).

It's very cool to see the evolution over the years, look forward to seeing more as you update :classic: keep up the good work sir.

Thanks for sharing. It's interesting to see how this evolved over time, ending up quite different from the original. I like the current shape of the building, although the blue is a bit much for me. I think this has the potential to be a great modular building if it had a different colour scheme. I also like the third version, as it captures the 80 classic town perfectly. My favourite is the first one - very cute!

Wow, nice MOC! Nice to see the evolution of the building over time! Thanks for sharing.

Question: do you have any more pics of your town? I'd love to see them!

Thank you for sharing this house's evolution with us. The black stripes really help to "open up" the blueness. I'd try adding similar stripes to the medium-blue as well now, either as black stripes or normal-blue stripes or even as a brick-heigh normal-blue stripes.

The evolution of not only the cafe, but your town in general is spectacular! I love seeing the set influence in your creations. Awesome.

A great series of photos and a fascinating look at how a building idea can evolve over time (personally I love the first couple of versions.... Classic Lego Town!!)

Nice work
