Cara Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Has anyone else encountered this? (Before I phone up lego I thought I'ld ask). I know many of you probably haven't played with the speeders, lol. But if you have, have you encountered any trouble with one of them wobbling so much from side to side that it just fish tails forward rather than races? We have two that do this. Both of them belonging to Wakz. I thought at first it might be the other bricks on that particular speeder but I swapped the wheel from Wakz to Longtooth and it still wobbled, however not as badly. Ricecracker Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I've found that it depends how you release them. If it's slightly off as you let go, it tends to wobble. It takes a bit of practice and trial and error to get it going consistently. Quote
PenPlays Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) If the Speedor has its Power-up (the thingy you can add to the back), it tends to wobble with the rounded "floor protector" piece underneath. Try launching the Speedor without it. Edited January 25, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 No wobbles but I have found it impossible to get them to go up the ramps, they just hit it and essentially it becomes a battering ram being pushed along in front of the speedor. Quote

It's worked a few times (for me) with the Ultimate Tournament... But it is pretty challenging to go all the way through the target, up the ramp and actually hit the fountain. Out of the 50 (estimate) times I've played the game, it's only worked about 2-3 times. I've also found difficulty with getting Equila's Speedor hitting the missle launcher in Target Practice. The add-on makes it swerve in circles too much. -Sci -Sci Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 So if adults are having problems with these, I wonder how kids are getting along with them. I don't own any, but have considered picking up a few for my daughter to play with. She liked the spinjitsu stuff. But I don't think she'd be able to keep them straight if it is that difficult. Quote
Cara Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 I've found that it depends how you release them. If it's slightly off as you let go, it tends to wobble. It takes a bit of practice and trial and error to get it going consistently. Thing is we have had four speeders, and two reliably wobbled and two don't. If the Speedor has its Power-up (the thingy you can add to the back), it tends to wobble with the rounded "floor protector" piece underneath. Try launching the Speedor without it. We tried removing various pieces but came down to solely the over carriage and the wheel axle, and there are two speeders that wobble too much to play with and two that go in a straight line. I've found that it depends how you release them. If it's slightly off as you let go, it tends to wobble. It takes a bit of practice and trial and error to get it going consistently. I considered this and it could be applicable for the kids however since I can reliably release two of the speeders in a straight line, I am less certain that it is a factor for the two that wobble. When I release them in what I perceive to be exactly the same manner to the two that don't wobble. No wobbles but I have found it impossible to get them to go up the ramps, they just hit it and essentially it becomes a battering ram being pushed along in front of the speedor. This was my kids greatest complaint and I think the faultiest part of the design, when there are so many other actual slope pieces that cold have been used/built together to make a ramp. The only way we've been able to play is to aim at the base so the whole thing goes down. Thank you for all your thoughts. Quote
PenPlays Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I've also found difficulty with getting Equila's Speedor hitting the missle launcher in Target Practice. The add-on makes it swerve in circles too much. That's why I never use the Power-upz. They just hamper the play rather than enhance it. Try aiming the Speedor (with the power up) directly at the gun. If the Ravens are in a V pattern and are relatively close to the cannon, the Raven pointed directly at the cannon should fall, and the Speedor should launch of the gun "button" and into the other two Ravens. Here's a tip: You have plenty of time for you to aim the Speedorz after you pull the ripcord. It will still go at high enough speeds to be effective. Out of my 3 tries with Target Practice, all three were a success with all three ravens bowled over with these methods. Quote
