Hi there,

seems that LEGO Germany sells out their XL-Motors. :cry_happy:

Actual price (01/18/2013) is 11,99 €, which was the cheapest i found atm for a new XL-Motor.

XL-Motor LEGO germany

Even on BL the cheapest new XL-Motor is 13,98 € (from german store).

A few weeks ago the best price i found was ~18 €.

Maybe someone needs some XL-Motors like me

i just ordered 3 XL motors from Lego for 14.90 swiss francs each @ Swiss Lego website.... So it's around 0.50 swiss francs much more expensive (EUR11.99 x 1.2 = CHF14.39) than the Lego german website..... Well, everything is expensive here in Switzerland!!!

I bought mine mainly because I'm moving to Australia next month, where they're AU$20.99 ~= £13.80 or €16.50, almost twice as much. I've been picking up a couple of things from ebay as well, as there's practically no second-hand market in Australia. On eBay.co.uk, searching for used "lego technic" shows 7000 results, whereas on ebay.com.au there's a grand total of 100.

Oh well, there's always bricklink.

I don't want to start any nasty rumours, but could there be a chance that Lego is phasing out these motors? AFAIK, they have only ever been in two sets, both of which have long been out of production, and next years' sets seem to come with the L motor.

What do you think?

But you are still right and I'd bet on it that they are selling out.

Thanks for your opinion. That leads me to another question; I got into Technic a year ago and don't have many PF parts yet (only those from 8109). But I plan on getting the 9398 offroader later this year and build my own RC vehicles. Is it worth getting two discounted XLs now for my parts collection, if I get 9398 anyway? On the motor comparison chart, I saw that they aren't that much stronger than the L-Motors, but that they have more torque and less speed, which I guess could be equalized by appropriate gearing. Or do I miss something?

I guess my question is how the XL compares to the L motor.

Best,

LL.

Not trying to make anyone in the Euro zone angry but in the US those motors are 9.99USD. If you buy 4 of them they drop the price to 8.99, if you buy 8 they drop it further to 8.49 (which is 6.38 Euro).

Thats why a couple of those US sellers have so many and so cheap.
