There are some parts in the 42000 that I would have loved to have seen made in White again, but overall I like the color scheme of it.

Just lately there seems to be a trend of bitching and whining about any opinion that's anything other than "wow, everything they do is perfect"

Other than the thread I started about alternatives to EB, do you have any other examples of this? Trends kind of need evidence and data points and such, otherwise they're just...opinion (as discussed nicely by shadowhearth on page 1 of this thread).

(I reckon 'TLG are perfect' can maybe be found in other sub-forums, dunno about the Technic one).

You want something you never give yourself? Evidence? Ok.

So many people on this forum complain that if Lego uses pneumatics, they should have used actuators. If Lego used actuators, they should have used pneumatics. Or, to use or not to use motors in a kit.

My solution to these arguements, If you don't like how Lego designed a set, change it, and show it.

Then, you will have the set of your dreams, and give others ideas to maybe change their own kit. I have started this with my manual 9397 Log Truck topic because I'm tired of motors taking all the fun out of a set. It's my opinion, not law.

"I'm tired of motors taking all the fun out of a set. It's my opinion, not law." Yes, that is only his opinion, I can see that is not senseless whining and bitching, it's just his opinion which he is welcome to have and to share and I respect that. So why is it that when someone else has an opinion it's just complaining for no apparent reason? Is it because those opinions clash with his own or what? Seems a bit hypocritical to me to start up an entire thread to complain that "so many people on this forum complain" and his solution that he highlighted in bold misses my next point.

I totally agree with you. Lego technic is about creativity, giving some ideas a try. Of course one can built just from instructions that have been given by TLG but the whole fun and satisfaction starts when one tries to modify, share his/her ideas with others. This is why me as an adult chose Lego Technic as my hobby instead of whole ready built rc models industry (which is cheaper) just because Lego gives such big possibilities to modify and build my very own creations - MOCs. So when I see somebody complaining about something used or not used in a new lego set I just smile and laugh a little. This is what Lego is all about - MODYFYING, building MOCs.

When I make suggestions, for example "they should make longer pneumatics" and "they should make different sized synchromesh gears" and then go on to explain why, that is not me complaining that they didn't do those things, it's me saying I like the product but here's what I would do to make it worth my money. They can take it or leave it, not gonna cry other it and i'm sure neither are they. The above post is a little condescending as it assumes that those who share such views are just bitching, missing the point of what Lego is about and then laughs at them for it, despite him missing the point I made above, along with missing the point that some modifications that I would really like are not achieveable by me, such as producing the parts I mentioned above to TLGs standards.

Context? Browse any thread discussing new releases, and many of the review threads. High-drama whining is pretty easy to find (as also is constructive, thoughtful criticism).

Whining is not unique to technic forum, there's just as much of it in the town and train forums, or maybe even more. The castle forum also appears to be full of people who think the sky is falling following the release of new castle sets.

My guess is that some significant percentage of Eurobricks posters see Lego as a collectable, not a creative construction toy. Modifying a TLG design seems to be an alien idea to these people.

Of course, and for the avoidance of doubt, I respect the right of these people to pursue their hobby, even if it is uncreative, unimaginative and apparently not very fulfilling (these people seem to be very unhappy).

High drama whining? Context please.

Again this post is a little condescending as it assumes that those who like to share their views on how TLG could further improve their product have no idea that they can build their own MOCs or modify one of TLGs design to their own taste. It also implies that they are uncreative, unimaginative and generally quite miserable, despite the fact that being able to think of ways to impove upon something that is already quite good is evidence of the opposite of that.

And like you said, there is the topic you started, two topics within a short period of time started to complain about people who complain. Maybe two topics alone are not quite a trend but it certainly feels like one.

This is a forum, and there are always going to be discussions/conversations/opinions/complaints and whatever else everyone seems to be arguing about, otherwise it wouldn't be a forum  No need to 'end any conversations' because people disagree. Even though it may seem pointless to some, it may not be to others. I think we should just ignore this whole mess we've been in and continue to respect the forum as it should be- a discussion site where people can express their opinions (appropriately). And face the fact that there will always be someone with a different view, otherwise there would be no point in discussion if everyone had the same thoughts about everything :classic:

Herp, 8285. It could have been a classic, if only it had 4 axles, one of them lifting via pneumatics. And the dead-air in the sleeper box roof should have been filled in. Then I'd have bought 3.

Derp. It was a classic (my opinion).

Funny thing is, mine has 4 axles. Must be a special edition, or a mistake by Lego. Maybe I should have complained?

I guess I was in the wrong then for starting this topic. I just wanted to point out that there are people on this forum that complain about the same thing over and over, and have to point it out in every single post their complaint.

I would love to see someone make a few of the latest Technic sets with only pneumatics as they always say it would be better with.

I enjoy coming on this forum sharing and looking at mocs people have made for inspiration and shear awe. But the negativity is pushing me away. I have already blocked a couple users, and maybe with this I can enjoy this forum again.

ah, well I understand you but I just don't let things as simple as a few complainers get to me. Just one of the things you have to deal with
