denwilltec Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Hello everyone Iv got a 9398 crawler and mad the truck before... but didnt really like the look... One thing i didnt like was i thought the it was to high, making it top heavy and also when turning or going over bumbs etc, it never really level its self out.. 1st thing was i put smaller springs on the 4x4, straight away it handled better and and stay level to the ground, also i think it just looks much better. Then i built the truck, using the on line instructions, but changed a few things on the way.... hope you like Smaller springs... drives the same, if anything it drives better as its not as top heavy anymore. efferman Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) i dont like it because the wheels in the front, are not in the center of the mudguards Edited January 12, 2013 by efferman Quote
750ACE Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I like that it's lowered but not a fan of the inverted suspension. It has the illusion that it weighs to much. How is the steering, it would have opposite effect of body roll wouldn't it? Quote
denwilltec Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thank you for the reply's. I know it will not be to everyone's taste. The suspension works the same but does has less body roll, which seem to make it better, also with it less top heavy and the weight lower to the ground i.e the battery box, it climbs better and has more grip, but i do agree it does look like it weighs to much The turning circle is the same, Im now looking into making it drive/ move quicker... i will get a video up soon Quote
Henkl Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I've done the samething but I've mounted the springs at the end of the axl's. Very easy to do with less parts. In my case the spring stand vertically and works better. The negative site is that the truck stands a bit little higher on his wheels. Quote
denwilltec Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Hello, A little up date. I have added a winch to the front what is operated by remote. Hope you like Next im looking into. building a frame on the rear and have a canopy put over it..... make it look like a Dakar rally truck Quote
davidmull Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I like the b model better too, lowering it tho leaves the wheel hitting the mud guards , power puller wheels fix everything :) Quote

Bonus, im looking at getting 8466 kit, as iv seen one 2nd hand complete going cheep. 750ACE Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 8466 is much larger than 8297 and has a transmission. Got one as well second hand, never played with and included the box for 160. Quote
