doug72 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Now had two motors fail after the wires in the PF connector lost internal contact - if jiggle or push the wire into connector then motor runs. Even with carefully disengaging the connector ( not by pulling wire) from battery box or receiver - after many disconnections starts to fail. Has anyone else had this problem - and how to fix it. Tried once before to open up the connector but the inside fell to bits. Quote
timslegos Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I have never had this problem before. Lego's customer service is excellent, I would suggest you contact them and they might be able to send you new parts. Goodluck! tim Quote
skppo Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 4 of my pf m-motors have a similar problem. I don't think I've burnt a single one. All are connection problems. I think those might be my own fault for not being too careful. Quote
doug72 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Motors are OK - fault lies in the connection block where wires work loose from the contact fingers in the plug. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 This has literally just happened to me, I have contacted customer service and they should be sending me a new part Quote
S.I Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I had a m motor DOA last year, lego replaced it for me. Didn't think of checking whether the wires were lose so can't say if that was the issue :/ Quote
doug72 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I decide to try and find out what was the failure i.e. wire or connector pins. I opened up the connector plate ( with difficulty) and prised the wire out on the contact pins ( there are 8 connectors ( 4 on top / 4 on underside) Then cut the wire back about 2cm. Carefuly placed connector pins back into the pockets ( 4 in each side) and with top part with 2 studs placed face down put the wire over the pins. Then refitted the lower half and slowly clamped them together again with pliers. Success and motor runs again OK - therefore seems more likely there was a break in one of the wires possibly caused by flexing of the wires when removing the cable from battery box or VR receivers terminals. If lego can supply new connector plates then motors can be salvaged. Edited January 10, 2013 by Doug72 Quote
timslegos Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 If lego can supply new connector plates then motors can be salvaged. Lego would not do that type of thing. If you contact them they will send you a new motors pronto! tim Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I had the same trouble in a receiver,I just got in touch with Lego and they sent me out a new one. Quote
