Hi All,

New to the forum - joined yesterday. Great to be part of such a large & talented Lego community :)

Here's a MOC creation I made over Christmas - a cute little train.

Loco has 92 bricks; Wagon has 60. Need to fill it with presents though so it will be around 100 when it's done.

Also has a little hatch for the firebox :)

Considering doing a similar one with a Halloween theme...watch this space.

Sweet! And downright decent looking for a small train. :sweet:

Welcome to Eurobricks by the way! :classic:

Thanks mate. All made possible with LDD & Bricklink.

It's great to have redicovered Lego aged 36, and having access to pretty much an unlimited brick pallet.

Just like for so many of us :classic:

BTW, I'm moving this topic over to the Train Tech sub-forum here at EB. You now posted in the LDD forum, which is more a place to discuss LDD and Ldraw techniques, bugs, questions best-practices etc. If you bump into problem with LDD or have a question related to other digital tools, you're more then welcome to post here again.

And like already said: Welcome to Eurobricks!

OK mate thanks for letting me know. I did wonder if it was in the right place or not.

Welcome to Eurobricks! Now you just need a Bricklink order or two to build this nice looking creation and that firebox was a neat touch.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks Guys. I've already built it thanks to Bricklink...was interesting sourcing the bricks though as there are quite a few hard to come by ones on the model: the roof, the wheels, single-stud modifier bricks, the radiators for the steps, the dish on the front...all came together in the end though.

I'm planning on doing a Halloween one and I already have some ideas for it. I'm going to use the coffin containing the evil Count from the Monster Fighters Hearse set on the wagon and the Zombie driver driving the train. A few pumpkins/skulls, some red lights, watch this space...:)

Lovely little train! Would the standard train wheels not fit it? Just thinking you could make a PF powered carriage to go behind it and have it running on a circle of track under the christmas tree (although its a bit late for that now!)

Welcome to EB and train tech. I really like the firebox door on your engine. This shows some pretty clever details for a first adult build.

As you get more familiar with what parts are in current sets you'll be able to avoid rare or more expensive parts. Bricklink really makes the adult hobby much easier though, it's hard to imagine how hard it would be without it.

Individual slopes for the roof would be cheaper since the train sets the one piece roof is from are now quite in demand from collectors. Your wheel choice surprised me, I probably would have used the older 12V black or red wheels since I have some extras already and they have flanges so will run better on track.

I chose the wheels because I didn't really intend it to run on a track. As a novelty Christmas 'toy' train I built it to be pulled around a table by a child rather than run around a track by a train enthusiast. I think it could easily be modified to accomodate the proper train wheels though. I'll try it.

Yes children do seem to enjoy pulling them around by hand for some reason? I noticed when my mate came round the other day with his toddler, even though we had set up the track and everything with power functions he seemed to want to push it around and when we showed him how to remotely do it he lost interest? No idea why!

However you could modify it quite easily and then as the children get a bit older the addition of track and then a bit later power functions could keep your little train running for many a Christmas to come incorporating things to keep a growing child occupied as they age and desires change slightly.

Rookie question - why is there an upload limit of 100K for photo's? I have only uploaded the two pictures of the train & I only have 9k left!

Thanks

I made the same mistake. Use brickshelf, flikr or any other photo-sharing web site to publish your photos and then link to them using the image button...
