I thought about it, but then I thought more people would notice if I made a new topic then posted it in an old topic. ;-)

Oh, and I already ordered it. Can't wait for it to get on my doorstep. I'll do a review for it.

Technically, there aren't any enemies to beat anyways ;-)

Am I seeing the skeleton correctly? Will this be the first skeleton with the different arms?

As far as I know, "skeletons" will still be the originals, but the undead zombies will be the new design.

i wouldn't dismiss those awesome brick-built monsters as kid oriented.

i really hope AFOL give this theme a chance "as is". instead of a pre-MOC for divers/city/town. this theme IS NOT DIVERS, and is really a great conceptualized theme on its own (giant mutants included). i hope we see many AR MOCs, and not just divers add-ons 8-|

I'm sorry if I gave an impression that I'm dismissing AR as a theme or any of it's elements, creature or otherwise. For me, "kid oriented" is not a bad thing, on the contrary - us adults should always remeber the primary target group of TLC - the kids. Without them, or their interest, we'll loose our dear hobby.

The first criteria for judgement should always be playability, and that AR seems to have a lot. For adults, mocking is easy, and the use of pieces depend solely on our own creativity (and what we've managed to gather in our brickpile), not what TLC prints on the instructions. It's true that it is unfair to compare old divers and AR, the times, the kids and the TLC is different, and we'll just have to live with it (and keep on mocin').

What I meant was, and as you went on you got to that too, that maybe they are testing the secondary target groups' interests. The Shipwreck set obviously stands out from the rest of AR (for lack of beasts, mostly), and has exceptionally lot of the old-school "Legolized realism" in it (not that the others wouldn't have at least a hint of it, too).

On the other hand, it's not that far from the rest of the line, so it could also be a kind of an pull-in product, a "marketing trap" in a way. Toys form themes, kids want them in themes, and when they get one (and like it), they want the rest too. You get parent (dad) to buy this one he likes to his kid, the kid probably wants more.

And I don't mean either that it wouldn't be great on it's on or as part of it's theme. Heck, it's just so great set and fun to talk about. Again, I'm sorry for giving wrong impression, I'm really happy with the whole AquaRiders theme.

all makes sense to me L'E !!! especially this...

very perceptive... and i think its spot-on !!!

maybe i was the only one who read your post the wrong way :'-( ... but it seemed like a summation of all the divers-like talk i had been reading. im just glad i gave this theme a chance, and i hope others do to ;-) it's fun going to the store and actually liking what i see down the LEGO aisle... it's like being a kid again. buying LEGOs off the internet just doesn't have the same nostalgia *wub*

Well

went to TRU today to find they do not have this set on shelf.

And when I asked when it would come in, they indicated never.

So either this is an online-only exclusive for TRU

or not yet scheduled for instore for a long time

or the person I asked doesnt know anything

I just noticed two features that come with the set. I saw these on the box art. One is the collapsing mass, and another is that the left arm is magnetic and that is how it held that little box. Now I can't wait until it arrives in the mail. *sweet*

Rather disappointing. The shipwreck is almost nothing at all. The highlights would be the golden dish, the crab and the green snakes.

Hmm...this set looks interesting! I'm loving the crab, and the gems! Oh yeah! Can't forget that sweet skeleton! The sub isn't that great, and there aren't any attacking creatures. Still, looks pretty cool, I'll have to get it.

7/10.
