Chuck Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Where is it available? Don't know, probably at a Lego store. -l2k- Quote
Brick Miner Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 i definitely want this... but what does "special edition" mean ??? limited release, possibly ??? or are they planning a NON-special edition of this set :-D - BrickMiner Quote

dunamis Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 This might be a Target or TRU exclusive. The Nitro Intimidator had special edition written on the box as well and it was a Target Exclusive. Interesting coincidence, I was at the LEGO store today and picked up a new calendar. it listed the 7776 The Shipwreck as coming soon on the back. Quote

BTW, is target a world wide chain, or would that mean this 7776 is a US exclusive ??? i could see making a quick BL buck if so ;-) - BrickMiner Quote
alex54 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 BTW, is target a world wide chain, or would that mean this 7776 is a US exclusive ??? i could see making a quick BL buck if so ;-) - BrickMiner Target is not known in France. And I just hope it's not a TRU exclusive too, because I don't buy my LEGO in a TRU (I don't have any of them near I leave...). Maybe we will have it on the S@H Quote

And I just hope it's not a TRU exclusive too, because I don't buy my LEGO in a TRU (I don't have any of them near I leave...). Maybe we will have it on the S@H Tks for the info L2K ;-) I thought this was an exclusive set since its not appearing on the january S@H catalogue. You can bet Alex that this will be a TRU exclu (like the newer X-Wing). But it will be available via S@H, don't worry ;-) *yoda* Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Odd, there's no animal in it. Reminds me of divers. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Odd, there's no animal in it. Only a sweet crab *wub* Too bad its not a classic red one though !! And off course another snake yeay !! Looks kinda lime to me though !! *yoda* Quote
simonwillems Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Odd, there's no animal in it. Reminds me of divers. The diverssets I have (and I have them all!) were stuffed with animals, so what's your point? Anyway, I have to go across some border to buy this, if I buy this that is... Quote

GravyTrain Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Calm down people, this set will probably be available elsewhere. USA's Target exclusives usually end up as Argos exclusives or even wide release. At any rate, it'll be available on S@H fo' sho. So clam* down everybody. *I put this intentionally, so don't correct me, foo'! Quote

Hobbes Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 And in fact, it's the AR set that looks closer to the Divers theme *wub* Yep, that's the set I've been waiting for *sweet* Quote
Sir Dillon Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Sweetness. :-) I've been waiting for this set to come out. Hopefully it'll be availible on Shop at Home. Quote
L'Exocet Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I too have waited for that sub to surface :-) and the the new pics look even better. I really want that on the deck of my sea exploration ship. Minus the weaponary of course... too many harpoons for peaceful research missions. Could it be that TLC intends this to be an AFOL-"pre-moc" set, the rest of the line being obviously more action/kid oriented? I still wonder about the "Special edition" tag though... In the German catalogue here it's shown as a part of the theme (Well, ok, it is in a seperate box, maybe that's suppose to make it obvious that it is a "special edition" |-/ ) Anyway, I think TRU/Target exclusives have not been seen in the medium catalogs before (please correct me if I'm wrong), so probably "special edition" means "available for limited period". I really do hope so. Quote
Shakar Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Wow, looks like a very nice set. I agree that it's the AR set that looks most like the old Divers theme. Anyone knows its price (in Euro)? Shakar Quote
phoinix Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 i went to the lego dealer in my area today and i sat there and went through the dealers catalog there was no AR in it :-( Quote
Hobbes Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Anyone knows its price (in Euro)? EUR 29.99 on amazon.de, available for pre-order, expected on March 1 Quote
Section8 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I hope it hits the US soon, that's the one aquaraiders set I said I was definitely going to buy when it comes out. Imagine how mad I was when I saw the new AR line at TRU in november and it wasn't on the shelf :-( Quote
Shakar Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 EUR 29.99 on amazon.de, available for pre-order, expected on March 1 30 Euro? An ok price, I guess. Maybe I'll buy it. Shakar Quote

Minus the weaponary of course... too many harpoons for peaceful research missions. Could it be that TLC intends this to be an AFOL-"pre-moc" set, the rest of the line being obviously more action/kid oriented?i wouldn't dismiss those awesome brick-built monsters as kid oriented.i really hope AFOL give this theme a chance "as is". instead of a pre-MOC for divers/city/town. this theme IS NOT DIVERS, and is really a great conceptualized theme on its own (giant mutants included). i hope we see many AR MOCs, and not just divers add-ons 8-| -------------------------------------------------- however, if it is true, that LEGO meant this as a AFOL pre-MOC set, that is interesting. it means LEGO is identifying (and pursuing) its secondary market. and that is potentially dangerous territory for the company. we have seen this type of change happen in the comic book industry. and, to me, has had some serious consequences... no kids read comics. now, this is obviously taking it pretty far. but if LEGO were to fully recognize its secondary market as its primary (and give AFOL exactly what it wants, classic-this-and-classic that), they might alienate their current primary market, kids. consequently, we would have an all adult hobby. it might sound far fetched, but 50 years ago... if you told anyone that comics would be an adult driven entertainment, they would have laughed. however, what we have in front of us, seems like a good attempt at pleasing both markets *y* and im sure the focus groups have spoken. anyway, just something to think about X-D - BrickMiner Quote
dillthepill Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 That is probably the best looking Aquaraiders sub, the treasure looks nice too, but I am kinda sad that they have no threatening animals. :-( I will still get it anyways. Quote
