petero Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 My wife and I went to the local mall on the 26th, and we found a toy store that was giving 50% off on everything. One of the few LEGO sets they had was 6860 The Batcave, so I bought one. Today I finally got a chance to start building it. The box seemed fuller than many LEGO boxes, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it had numbered bags... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 2. That's right, it had two Bag #2s in it! No wonder the box seemed fuller than usual. Interestingly, the extra bag did not have the two bags of smaller parts inside it. So I have an extra Poison Ivy torso and legs, but no head or hair. Way to go LEGO! Half price and extra parts. Woohoo! I wonder how this set slipped past the weigh-in at the end of the production line? It should have been seriously overweight! Peter Quote
Kez Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Congratulations petero, when I got the same batcave set mine came with an extra lot of instructions although its not as good as what you got. Quote
Cobb Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Haha, mine missed a part. The seconds set this year that this happened to me together with Arkham Asylum. Quote
Jahab Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I just opened mine from Christmas tonight and discovered that someone had beaten me to it. Bag No. 1 was bag No. 1 from the Republic Striker Class Starfighter. All the other bags seemed to include the correct parts, but all the minifigures had been removed. Upon further inspection, all of the bags that had contained minifigs had been re-taped closed. The box did not seem tampered with, and if the jerk who took them had opened it he did a fine job tapng it closed. I just hope Target will take it back with my gift receipt. And I sincerely hope they have one with which to replace it. Quote
petero Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Sorry to hear that, Jahab. I'm sure Target won't give you any grief about returning it. The last time I was at Target before Christmas, they had one large set (I forget which) that not only had been opened and re-taped shut, but had a sizeable chunk out of one corner of the box. I considered finding a manager and offering him $10 for it as loose parts Peter Quote
moschino Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 All these are extremely sad news. I think Lego should do a change in how they make boxes for Lego. Quote
Jahab Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I'm happy to report that Target replaced the Batcave. I opened it in the car just to make sure. The worker who took my return said "Missing pieces?" before I'd even said anything. I said that I thought it had been tampered with and she said "No, it's just Lego. I used to work at Toys R Us." OK. I wouldn't mind seeing boxes that were more tamper proof. However, I appreciate the quality of the cardboard. Quote
petero Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Yeah, LEGO always sends out bags that have been opened and taped shut Glad to hear they had a replacement! It's a fun set, even though I'm more into the 1960s TV Batman than the current movies. Peter Quote
