Unimog22 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Hi, my name is Tom and after just reading here for quite a while, I finally decided to register. Actually, the lasr time I've had any Lego in my hands was when I was a child. Now being over 40 this has been quite some time ago... . I've ben doing all sorts of modelling most of my adult life, including model-trains (1 gauge), RC planes, ships and offroad-vehicles. The latter is more or less why I suddenly got into Lego... . Spending most of my spare time fiddeling with my moedel trains, I started to build an RC Unimog 406 from Tamiya. Searching the net for more information on the subject, I more and more saw reports about Lego's technic Unimoc. At first I ignored this model because it's Lego - which at that time admittingly consideres "childs play" (forgive me...) as I didn't know how much Lego has progressed in the last decades. But then I saw a few videos of the vehicle, found out that it is an easy task to put RC in it - and was hooked! I started to read more about it (especially here, since there doesn't seem to be a forum with such an impressive range of information like this one in Germany. Finally, I decided to get me one! So, now I've had it since Christmas, using some spare hours to start building it and became more and more fascinated with the technical detail of the kit. To be honest, I haven't found much of such in an ordinary RC model... . So far, I have only finished the chassis, body and truck bed. Since I'm planning to do several modifications of the like I saw here, I'm going to buy a second one in order to have enough parts, as I've already found out that pare parts can cost a fortune. And since the Unimog is readily available quite inexprensively around here, it's probably the better idea. So, enough for know. I have many plans in mind, but to be honest, mostly no clue on how to put them into effect. So be prepared, I'll come with many questions in the near future... Tom Quote
