greg3 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Hi and Happy Christmas!! This year I treated myself to The Mine (4204) a great set but one that I've decided to MOD over Boxing Day. I really wanted an old abandoned mine for my Lego village so my minifigs can get to work reopening and running it so I stripped off all the crane and conveyor belt and replaced with some scenery. Apologies for the poor photos but I'll take some more next week once it's in my village layout... Here's the mine... abandoned for over 50 years. The main entrance. All that remains of the mine railway is a few lengths of track and a rusting, derailed minecar... The big arch is all that remains of where steam powered machinery would have stood. Now its full of tons of spoil. It's the belief that the rock behind here may contain gold and other precious minerals that will lead to the mine being reopened. Thanks for looking, any comments are always welcome. I hope to chart the changes that take place as the mining company reopen the mine so watch this space!! Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I like it. It reminds me of a place where an ex-girlfriend's family used to vacation in Pennsylvania (they didn't actually stay IN the mine, but there were a couple spooky old coal mine adits on their land in the woods not far from their cottage). tomdobs55 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Awesome! I love the minecart all rusted. Quote
lostdriveway Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Excellent MOD!! Very similar to something I want to create for my layout! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Simple yet very Lego indeed 'greg3'......might need a few bones laying around too ! Excellent modifications there 'greg3' and Brick On ! Quote
Wedge09 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Really nice work  Simple but it makes good Quote
JasperL Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Ah, this is the type of mod I like. Still recognizable, but completely different in style and appearance. Great job! Quote
Luke Styer Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Beautiful build. It would fit right in with the "Forest Police" subtheme. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Very nice mod! I like the atmosphere! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Thats really neat greg3. I'd say it's a MOC, rather then a mod, and tastefully done! I would love to build something like this! Good job Quote
Cobb Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 The secret entrance to the Batcave of the seventies. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 So simple yet so effective. I love the use of the boulders as larger, looser rocks that block the entrance to the right shaft. Wonderful work! Quote
tikicult Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Why can't I think of cool stuff like this? haha! I love it, looks great! Quote
EvMan Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Hola! Love the repurposing of the set, and you've done an ace job adding awesomeness. Thank you for the inspiration, am totally "borrowing" this idea. And by borrowing I mean stealing, just in case I wasn't being obvious. Thanks for sharing. Ev_Man Quote
