mornevanstaden Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 HI there you experienced moc builders i am new at technic building about 18 months i have a problem when building mocs i have build a few models from various builders but the same problem happens most of the time mostly on crawlers the gears on the driveshaft keep on getting stuck making clicking noise it does not climb on to anything when i turn model upside down the wheels are turning fine i stripped models build them again same problem exists the gears are not forced to tight on the axels i would love some help please thanks Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) Welcome to the forum. you have not braced your model well enough, are you using studded parts or stud-less lift arms to build your base? can you share a picture using Photobucket or flickr to show us what you have done? AndyCW Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Pictures will allow us to better help. The forces created on crawlers cause the the Lego components to deform. It is critical that bracing and cross bracing is integrated into the design to prevent this. This same concept applies to full scale crawlers. The axles and gear trains are reinforced with aftermarket parts to withstand the forces created. Stock vehicle parts on a crawler would break rather quickly. The deformation can actually cause the gears to be damaged. I have a cup full of broken gears from this very thing. v/r Andrew Quote
