For those who have shipped opened larger lego sets on Bricklink in the Box, how do you ship it to A. minimize shipping costs, and B. assure that the box and its contents arrive safely? I'm psoting this here because I don't have enough posts to post in the Buy Sell topic.

For those who have shipped opened larger lego sets on Bricklink in the Box, how do you ship it to A. minimize shipping costs, and B. assure that the box and its contents arrive safely? I'm psoting this here because I don't have enough posts to post in the Buy Sell topic.

It's pretty hard do it, but what you do need is box that is in least 2 inches larger in all dimensions. Last time I sent such a large set, I bought a box thats similiar in size in 2 dimensions and cut down other dimension to size. I did it by cutting out middle section and overlapped remaining parts. It made for double wall side. Very strong. I also used air bubbles between set box and box walls. Buyer was very glad to get it in such good condition!
