Electricsteam Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 This is the ES co. (Electricsteam co.) 6-2-0 Horror Steam Locomotive! This is based off of the first steam Locomotive to use a 6 wheel bogie! Its called "Horror" because... Just well look at it This is the Steam Locomotive the "Horror" was based off of. I am open to any and all suggestions! Quote
Frank STENGEL Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Nice! One possible improvement would be using BBB XL drivers... Quote
PsyKater Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Yes the wheels definetely have to be larger. But very nice model though! Quote
Electricsteam Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 I don't have any XL BBB drivers Also you could rebuild and try to improve apon the Locomotive. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I instantly though "Ghost Train" when I saw the title to this topic E. Nice little engine. That's a hell of a boiler! You've done a nice job creating an unusual engine based on that classic photograph. A ghost or two or perhaps some skellies can always spook things up. Quote

Ha Ha Ha You are open to improve apon the Locomotive , I know I will because when I compared it to the picture the boiler looks to short. Edited December 5, 2012 by Electricsteam Quote
Electricsteam Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Update : Added 3 studs of length to the Boiler which did wonders for the locomotive and I also added some detail. Can you find the hidden Ghost? Quote
Frank STENGEL Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Looking better and better. Found the ghost It looks appropriately frightened. Edited December 6, 2012 by Frank STENGEL Quote
Electricsteam Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) I have made a small discovery.. I think. From the 2 pictures of the locomotive I can infer the man standing on the Coach behind the Locomotive is the Coal man . So I believe the Firebox was under the conductor cab... So that means I have a Tender to build with only being able to so about 3 feet of it.. Yay? Also Little fact! The railroad that used this Locomotive was the first railroad in America to have a Railroad related Death Edited December 7, 2012 by Electricsteam Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 These funny little locos are great. As you have said they are kind of retro. I think some ghosts and or skeletons would make it more horror orientated. Yes it does look better with the longer boiler, I agree. Quote
domboy Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 What I find neat about the original locomotive is the giganitc drivers it has, which look like they might be twice the hight of the engineer (hard to tell for sure without somebody actually standing by the wheel). Unfortunately the drivers from the Emerald night are nowhere near big enough if you're doing a minifig scale replica. Not sure where you could actually find a lego wheel that would work that could also run on rails though, so you've built a nice model within your constraints. Quote
roamingstop Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 If you look at the wheels they are actually not normal profile for trains; so i guess a pair large white motorbike wheels would look perfect as drivers - as long as there are no switches involved. (or you mount the wheels 1/2 stud off the rails; and hide a normal wheelset behind) Quote
Electricsteam Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) I have dug up some info on this locomotive from the musuem of retro tech. This locomotive was built by the Crampton company. The railway that used Crampton locomotives had the first death due to a railway accident. This locomotive was about 100 years ahead of the 6 wheel bogie. My goal is to do research on the Crampton Locomotive company and try to build them out of Lego. Edited December 15, 2012 by Electricsteam Quote
Electricsteam Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Sorry for bumping, But I wanted to say I am going to rebuild the locomotive with BBB XL drivers. Quote
Locomotive Annie Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Interesting, - don't forget to take photographs Quote
