Good old Lego builder Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Question to you all: I recently finished the fantastic Unimog set. My first technic set after my dark ages. Is it possible to create a 'look-a-like' mog, with classic technic, and then I mean for example the rear-suspension with differential and such. My technic stuff is mostly pre 1984.... This 'new' Technic has so many special elements and I haven't build 'classic' technic in such a long time, that I wonder how limited I'm with the old beams and stuff. I do have for example 8860, but suspension there is a bit different build. I curious for your views. Quote
DLuders Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Thirdwigg made a small-scale STUDDED Lego Technic blue Unimog U406 with Building Instructions. You could change the color scheme. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Lego actually did make a early mog: Edited November 28, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
DLuders Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 With Alasdair Ryan's recommendation above, you could build the 8848 with the parts list in this Rebrickable.com webpage. There are links to the Building Instructions there. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 With Alasdair Ryan's recommendation above, It wasn't a recommendation..... Quote
Good old Lego builder Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 Those are nice creations. But I'm thinking big unimog style. BIG!!! With suspension, maybe adding my old school 12v technic motor for some purpose. Quote

I have mostly newer Technic, oldest I had was the 1998 Turbo Command I bought on clearance in 2000, but I really started getting an interested in some of the old Technic of the glory days...simpler, yet fun designs... DLuders Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 @ Good old Lego builder: You should read Sariel's "Scaling Tutorial for Vehicles", and make your own "studded" Unimog creation. Quote
Good old Lego builder Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 Sariels guide is on my wish-list, so I certainly will! Quote
